Jim Carrey stars as a desparate lover (Joel), trying to hold on to memories of his girlfriend (Clementine), despite their entering into a confusing experiment where all negative thoughts of ex-relationships are made to be forgotten. But as the experiment goes on, and memories are lost, Joel decides he wants to hold onto the memories. One of Carrey's best roles, he tones down his usual over-the-top antics and conveys a desperate anguish lover to perfection.
