Just a note re Two Man father/son team - the kids need to be 16 years or older (last year was 15 yr and over). We are running the event through MNZ and the age level is set by their rules.
Please remember to bring your MNZ licences.
MNZ have supplied free one event licences for those not affilliated with MNZ.
We are lucky enough to have been sent local rider Damon Nield's race report for rounds 1-3 of the Senior Champs. Keep up the amazing effort Damon and we look forward to hearing how the last round in Taupo goes at the the end of the month:
Round 1 - Timaru
Just an update from today, track was very wet in practice/qualifying, and struggled to get a lap down and ended up 21st. Track got very rough and rutted as expected and was very hot, 35 degrees.
First race went well, got good start and stayed in 12th most of race but ended up 15th.
Second race, not so great, nerves got the better of me! Ended 19th.
Third race, good start, stopped being a pussy and hit all the jumps, was 12th but lost 2 positions and ended up 14th, which ended with getting 16th overall for the day!
Round 2 - Rotorua
Just an update from round 2 at Rotorua, had an hour delay in the morning due to the amount of rain and track condition and potentially being too unsafe to ride. But decision was made to go ahead with it. I was in the group A qualify which was the first group to ride the track. It was pretty boggy! Qualified 29th (group Bs lap times were 10sec faster as they had some lines!)
First race was tough, not a great start but got up to 15th, then two laps to go and got a flat rear tyre. Then two corners before the finish line a guy tried to make a pass and did a 3rd gear T-bone, got a bit tangled up but managed to get up and not loose a position!
Second race, very bad start, managed to find some good lines and worked my way up to 16th.
Third race, good start and rode well and passed a few for 13th. Finishing with 13th overall for the day.
Round 3 - Manawatu
Well not the update I would like to be giving you but...
First race, average start, struggled with track and bike setup so got worn out and finished 19th.
Second race, good start, had bike working much better and worked my way up to 13th and was trying to make a pass for 12th on last lap.... then bike ran out of gas from a cracked reed, hence using more fuel. I am absolutely gutted.
Last race got a very good start, and was in maybe 3rd coming into the first rhythm section (rollers) when I got 'cross rutted' and the class leader caught the end of my bar (I think) and I went down hard and got ran over by multiple other riders. I managed to get up and back on my bike and tried to continue but I wasn't able to. I hit my head pretty hard, leaving it with large impact scratches and snapped peak (and have to buy a new one), hurt my ribs, got a surface impact wound on arm, bruised shoulder and sore head.
Looking forward to Taupo to make a come back.. I hope!
When enduro riders turn up at a motocross, you know you're in for a treat. Big ups to Damon Nield (right) for taking on the MX boys on his Kiwi Rider KTM.

Regan Grbic (aged 18yrs) was a wonderful young man. It is an honour for Whangarei Motorcycle Club to have had Regan as a member. He was known and loved by all of his motocross brothers. He was an awesome guy, kind and generous. He is terribly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda and Mike and all his family. RIP (Ride in Paradise) Regan.
