"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us."
Ephesians 3:20

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." 2 Cor. 3:17

A Different Outlook

"Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel, 'My way is hidden from the Lord, and the justice due me escapes the notice of my God?'"

We complain asking God to make our work easier. God sees things differently than we do because He can see the beginning and the end. His answer is different than we anticipated. He may not send help or lighten our load. He may strengthen us to work longer, harder and smarter.

Where does our strength come from? It comes from waiting on the Lord and letting His Spirit fill us. Let us look to the Lord for strength. Let Him fill us with His Spirit to do more than we thought possible.

The joy of the Lord is our strength. How do we get this joy? By ministering to the Lord and being in His presence through praise.

Abraham asked the Lord to stay so that he could minister to Him. Daily invite the Lord into your heart and minister to Him and He will minister to you. Allow Him to refresh you. Allow Him to wash you with His blood. We try to do many works in our own efforts. The Lord will cleanse our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Wait on the Lord to be cleansed by Him. You will be strengthened and purified for service.

Spend time with God in prayer. We forget the meaning of things when we box them into categories. Prayer, to many people including myself at times, is too boring to participate in. All prayer is, is conversing with God. When we talk with God, we gain strength to continue. Talking with God refreshes our hearts for renewed effort. Any work gets tiresome. Most of us are used to working for a paycheck. Without the paycheck we quickly lose the incentive to serve. Jesus pays the best. If we keep our eyes on the Lord our reward will be greater than a paycheck. Do we trust God to reward us? He will.

Our values will change when we are renewed by Jesus. There are better rewards for our work than money. "Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions." Think of that for a moment. If we lost all our physical possessions what would our life consist of? Materialism is dealing just with the maintenance aspect of life. That is not the core of what life should be. The bottom line isn't the last word. Money is a tool. But having only tools leaves an empty heart. Use your tools for God's purposes.

Let our lives be directed by the Lord. We have a job to do, a ministry as some would say. Fulfillment comes by following God's leading not by gaining wealth, power and prestige.

Wait on the Lord, and let your heart take courage.

"As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for you O God."

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."
