Notes on Moving in God's Power "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." 2 Cor. 3:17 (1 Cor. 4:20) "For the Kingdom of God does not consist in words, but in power." Love (1 Cor. 2:4,5; 1 Thes. 1:5) Power convinces, words are dead. (1 Cor. 8:1,2) love teaches, knowledge alone is ineffective. Love allows people to understand knowledge, Love causes faith to work (Gal. 5:6) Perfect love casts out fear. (1 John 4:18) Faith (1 Jn. 5:3,4) "By this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world, and this is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith." Love causes God's commandments not to be burdensome. Power comes when we move in faith. Faith in God's promices, changes our lives. (2 Pt. 1:3,4) Faith in God's promises are effective as we are united with Christ. (2 Cor. 1:20) Without Christ the letter of the law is dead. Faith without works is dead, just as the body without the spirit is dead. (James 2:26) It would be like having a car that needs a tune up. So we read the manual to learn how to tune up the car and we are excited about it. We hold meetings and seminars on the importance of the manual and extol the poetry that it shows us in methods on tune-ups. But we never go out and tune-up the car. Faith, works, and love causes the works to be effective. Fasting Daniel type fast (Daniel 10:If) Isaiah type fast (Isaiah 58:6f) Fasting to break demon holds (Matthew 12:29;17:21) Fasting brings humbleness, humbleness brings God's grace (James 4:6; Psalm 35:13) The Blood of Jesus Confidence that the victory has been settled at the cross. (Hebrrews 2:14; Colossians 2:15) (Revelation 12:11) Overcome by: blood, testimony and total commitment. (Colosians 1:19,20) The blood of Jesus brings peace. (Ephesians 1:7) We are redeemed by His blood. Staying in the presence of God, allowing His glory to empower you. (Psalm 16:8f) Behold the Lord at all times. (John 15:1-7) Abiding in Jesus allows us to be connected to the power. (Hebrews 4:16) Enter into God's presence boldly, to receive grace. (Psalm 25;15) Look to God always to receive the answer. (Remans 6:4) God will give us life through His Spirit. (Isaiah 40:31) Waiting on God brings strength to the exhausted. PRAYER - Prevailing prayer moves God. The unjust judge. (Luke 18:1-8) (Gen. 32:26-28) Jacob wrestling with an angel for a blessing. This shows us that God is impressed with intensity. Obviously he let Jacob win. It would be like a big brother playing with his baby brother and let his baby brother win the match. Prevailing prayer prevails, or keeps on until there is victory. It is to gain your purpose in prayer. If our purpose is God's purpose. (John 5:30) God answers the prayer of faith. (1 John 5:14,15; James l:5f) It is the offensive weapon in spiritual warfare. (Ephesians 6:18) Unity in prayer brings power. (Matthew 18:20) Intercession (Ezekiel 22:30; Jeremiah 12:11; Isaiah 62:6,7) Abraham for Lot. (Genesis 18:20-33) Moses for Israel. (Exodus 32:11-14; Deuteronomy 9) Jesus for His obedience unto death. (Luke 22:39-46) Jesus before he picked his disciples. (Matthew 4:l-ll;18f) Jesus before His ministry. (Luke 4:1-13) Paul for the Galatians (Gal. 4:19) Persistence in prayer Why did God pick Saul of Tarsus? One reason was because of his intensity. He was going to do the job. Use of the blood of Jesus Use of God's promises when: God speaks one to us We are in communion with Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20) Worship Lifting up holy hands Tongues Pray in tongues than interpret in English. (1 Corinthians 14:15) Declare to the spiritual forces of our place in Christ. (Ephesians 3:10) Free from the curse of the law (Gal. 3:13) We rule in Christ (Romans 5:17) We are a kingdom of priests to our God (Rev. 5:10) Ready to witness (Ephesians 6:15) Service to others and perseverance brings God's answers. (John 15:16) Letting your fruit remain. (James 1:12) Authority given to those that have been approved. (Acts 14:22) We enter the Kingdom of God through many tribulations. (Hebrews 10:36) Endure doing God's will. Worship allows God to act. (Psalm 22:3) (Neb. 8:10) (Isaiah 43:18-21) (Isaiah 55) Praise makes the way prosperous. Knowledge keeps us from being deceived. (Hosea 4:6) Sowing and Reaping (Galatians 6:7-9) (2 Corinthians 9:6) (Psalm 62:11,12) (Ephesians 6:15) Witnessing is sowing to the Spirit. Weakness the most unusual and least understood way to get power. God delights in using the humble and doing things the way that men do not think will happen. (2 Cor. 12:9,10) Weakness coupled with thanksgiving allows God to flow through a willing vessel unhindered. Moses, a man not good with words as a spokesman for Israel Jesus reaching the world as a commoner. Peter, an uneducated laborer, evangelist to the religious Jews. Paul, an educated Pharisee as an evangelist to the Gentiles. The poor of this world being rich in faith. (2 Corinthians 1:8-10; 3:5) A complete lack of self reliance. (Galatians 4:13) Because of a bodily illness, Paul preached the Gospel to the Galatians. Not in spite of it. Being full of the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 3:6,17) God's Word alone kills. God's Word with the Holy Spirit is life. God created the world by the word of His power (Heb. 1:3, Ps. 104:30) but the Holy Spirit was with the Word. God is in unison and for us to move in power we should be in unison with God, (Romans 8:11) We have life in the Spirit as we allow the Holy Spirit to live through us. (Romans 15:13) Our ability to hope in God's promises comes from the power of the the Holy Spirit. (Zech. 4:6,7) Not by might or power, but by the Holy Spirit and grace. (Isaiah 30:21) Don't set your plans in concrete, be willing to move with the Holy Spirit. (Micah 3:8) I am full of power with the Holy Spirit. Wanting our rights quenches the Holy Spirit. Present ourselves as servants of Christ. (Romans 12:1) Moving in the Spirit involves denial. It is denial because of priorities of putting God first. We are able to choose to serve because we look to Christ. We allow the Holy Spirit to move in our deadness as we worship. (1 Cor. 15:13; Heb. 12:2; Isa. 61:3) The Word of God (Romans 1:16) The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. (1 Cor. 1:18) The word of the cross is power to us. (Psalm 107:20) He sent His word and healed them. (Jeremiah 1:12) God is watching over His word to perform it. (Psalm 119:89) Forever O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven.
