Reports on Books I Have Read Currently Reading Servolution by Dino Rizzo Under the Overpass by Mike Yankoski Mike and Sam Purvis spent about 5 months as homeless on the streets. They played the guitar for food money. They spent time in Denver, DC, Portland Oregon, San Francisco, Phoenix and San Diego. They wanted to experience life in need and see how the Church could better reach out to the homeless. It is a fast reading 224 pages. The Healing Light This is her jewl. God is light and as we allow Him to minister to us we have what we ask for. God is our source and as the conduit is open between us and God the power will flow to us. Creation Waits Prayer to heal the earth. Some would consider this wako, but Jesus prayed for the waves on the Sea of Galiee to be calmed. Sealed Orders Her autobiography The Healing Power of the Bible Agnes Sanford has mp3 sermons here. Cry of the Spirit Unpublished Sermons by Smith Wigglesworth Collected and Edited by Roberts Liardon How to Resist Satan by Theodore H. Epp A book full of scripture references. Chapters 1, The Spiritual Warfare of the Christian 2. Satan Identified 3. Satan's Kingdom 4. Satan's Methods 5. Satan is a Defeated Foe 6. The Christian's Armor 7. Why is Satan Still at Large? A History of the Moravian Church by J. E. Hutton written in 1909 digital e-book in 2000 Strong church. People were committed to each other and to the Lord. This love resulted in a strong outreach to other countries in missions. My understanding is these guys had a heart for God. They wanted to follow God fully. Some of their rules were strict. People lived under these rules with a good heart. They stayed prayed up and some were ready to go to the mission field on literly a moments notice. And stayed there for decades. They were sometimes forced to live in the forest and worshiped from house to house as they had opportunity. A couple of times they got off track but their love for God and His word brought them back. Riding with the Blue Moth by bill Hancock He worked for NCAA March madness and lost his son in a plane accident. Rode across America to get healing. At the end of the ride he got some answers. Don't Pray Without Passion by Marilyn Sampson Read my notes from the book. De Shazer by Hoyt Watson Jacob DeShazer flew in a bomber to bomb Tokyo for the first time, in World War 2. They were captured and he spent 40 months in solitary confinement. During this time he was permitted to read a Bible and receive Christ because of the witness of the Word of God. He devoted his life as a missionary to the Japanese after the war. The lead pilot that raided Pearl Harbor also became a Christian from the testimony of Jacob DeShazer and his story is told here. Intercessory Prayer by Dutch Sheets Younger Next Year by Chris Crowley & Henry S. Lodge M.D. An exercise plan for health. Here is a link to a review of the book. There is some cussing in the book which they think is cute, but it would be a better book without it. Revival Lectures by Charles Finney Chapters on Prevailing Prayer and the Prayer of Faith I have the notes to Prevailing prayer posted, (click link above) I also took notes on the Prayer of Faith. The Hidden Power of Prayer and Fasting by Mahesh Chavda A good book on fasting. Not how to, but what he did. Crows by Sylvia A Johnson Easy reading explanation of crows and their habits. Corvus the Crow by Franklin Russell Easy reading book: A year in the life of a crow. Written as fiction with natural history. America The First 350 Years by J. Steven Wilkins - 24 hours of tapes It was very interesting. Preaching as well as history lessons. There were a few things that I disagreed with. But taken as a whole it was very good. It shows what our founding fathers were thinking of when the Constitution was written. A lot of time was spent on the Constitution and a lot of time was spent on the Puritans. Talks some on Calvinistic beliefs. I want to investigate that more. I didn’t know much about the Puritans. I want to go back and read some of his source material on them. Shows a Southern view of the causes of the Civil War, or War between the States as they called it. Much of this insight was informative to me. He took a shot at Charles Finney. Why I don’t know. But Finney was anti-slavery. As you can see from other articles on my web page I am a fan of Finney. On a scale of 1 to 100 100 being the best I would put it at 90 For comparison a history book on Grant by William S. McFeely (winner of the Pulitzer One Mile at a Time Cycling through Loss to Renewal by Dwight R. Smith The loss of his 2 sons in auto accidents and his wife to cancer caused Dwight Smith to cycle for renewal. He rode 13,784 miles around the perimeter of the US. June 16th 1985 to March 18th 1986 How To Have A Good Day Every Day by Norman Vincent Peale A 32 page booklet on setting our heart towards God daily. The Emancipation of Robert Sadler by Robert Sadler with Marie Chapian You won't want to put this book down. 1920's slave near Anderson South Carolina. His story, salvation and becoming a preacher. I am noticing people are searching for this book over the internet. If you pay a premium for this book you will not be dissipointed. I got the book around 1980. I read it every 10 years or so and each time I have read it, I read it straight through. When I was reading it for family devotions I read ahead on my own to finish the book. This preacher was no common preacher. He did not have a theological degree but he had the touch of God on his life. God used him mightily to meet peoples needs. I think one of the basics in Christianity is love and faith. Robert Sadler had the faith of God and love of God. He overcame his past and used it for God. Eddy Mercks by Rick Vanwalleghem The best bicycle racer of all time. Not well written. Only tolerable because I am interesting in racing. Undaunted Courage by Stephen E. Ambrose The story of the Lewis and Clark expedition to the Pacific ocean Celebration of Discipline by Richard J. Foster The book covers: meditation, prayer, fasting, study, simplicity, solitude, submission, service, confession, worship, guidance and celebration. This is not just another book on the Christian life. There is some real depth here. It is from this book that I moved into better meditation on Scripture. I heard about the book from a Christian blog. They were going to read a chapter a week and discuss it on the blog. How Should We Then Live by Francis A. Schaeffer Shows the progression and wavering of Christianity through art. The book takes us to where we are in the western world. It asks the question: How shall we then live? Are we going to live for ourselves for personal peace and prosperity or will we reach out to the world through faith in Christ? Willing to suffer if needed. John G Lake Apostle To Africa Compiled by Gordon Lindsay A short biography giving strong testimonies of healing. We read it for family devotions in the evening. 58 pages A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by Phillip Keller Read for family devotions. 142 pages Here are some Excerpts Prepared by Dr. Neil Chadwick John G. Lake The Complete Collection Of His Life Teachings Compiled by Robrts Liardon I got the book in 2002 and read a chapter when I am led.
