My Story:
We all need to be loved. We all need to understand how much God loves us. Those two needs were met for me on Good Friday in 1970, when I understood that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and I entered into a personal relationship with Him.  At age 19, I joined the Navy and was stationed in Japan from 1975-1979.  I was far from home, stripped of the familiar, lonely, and seeking fellowship.  A friend invited me to attend the Cadence Hospitality House, and it became my “home away from home.”  I began studying the Bible and memorizing Bible verses.  I read missionary biographies, met visiting missionaries, and experienced the difference Cadence missionaries made in my life.  I committed my life to God for full-time Christian service and went on to graduate from Multnomah Bible College.

My long-time desire to be a missionary reached fruition when I joined Cadence and returned to
Japan in 2001, conducting a women’s ministry program in the same place where I was discipled 22 years before.  Over 25 women were involved  regularly in our weekly Bible studies, dinners, outings, and activities, and I met one-on-one with many women to address their particular concerns.  It was a joy to watch God help them overcome poor self-image, eating disorders, rape and sexual abuse, suicide, loneliness, distrust, fear, and a number of other issues.
