My Testimony

I was born and raised in South Dakota.  My family went to church on and off for most of my childhood but by jr. high had quit attending.  At about the same time I began going to parties and doing the "normal" teenage thing in my community.  This continued for a few years and then my life was changed forever.  Within a years time 2 of my friends/classmates had died.  Death became a very real thing to me and I was forced to really think about what would happen to me if I died.  The day after my second friends death I went to church and just sat in the pew crying out to God.  It took a few tragedies for me to realize my need for a Savior.  I found that Savior in Jesus Christ.  That day I was crying out to Him in November of 2001 it became clear to me that it didn't matter what I had done before- the sins I'd committed were washed away by the blood of Chirst.  Acts 16:31 "Believe on the Lord Jesus and you shall be saved!"

My Life Verse and What It Means to Me:
My siblings and I had and a favorite pass time after each big rain.  We liked to put our swimming suits on and swim
in the puddles. We couldn’t imagine a more fun day or a better place to swim and play. It was
probably because we lived on a farm in the middle of South Dakota and had never experienced
anything else and had nothing to compare our mud puddle to. One day we got to take a
vacation to see our cousins in Katy, Texas. On that trip we went to the beach and swam in
the ocean. It made our little puddle look like the mud it truly was.

Jesus told the disciples and a crowed of people in Mark 8:34, "If anyone would come
after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."
We all get so content in the
way we do things that many Christians don’t deny the comforts that they know and follow Christ.
We can’t see what else is out there; that what Christ has for us is better than what we already
know. We are afraid to leave our comfort zone and to take up our cross and follow Christ!

Each one of us is like a kid from the slums playing in a puddle of mud because we can’t
imagine what a vacation at the beach is like. We need to deny ourselves tin so we can have gold.
Take up your cross and follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
