Westlea Wanderers Football Club

Founded 1965

A Brief Club History

Westlea Wanderers Football Club was established in 1965. They became one of the founder members of The Leamington and District Sunday Football League following it's formation in 1966.

Between 1971 and 1998 they were crowned League Champions on 8 occaisions.  Other honours, during this period, include winning The Challenge Cup on 10 occaisions, Divisional Cup Winners 7 times, Cancer Cup Winners 9 times and The Cancer Supplementary Cup twice.

Probably their best acheivment, to date,is winning The BCFA Sunday Vase in 2009, following up their 1972 success when they won the, then prestigious, BCFA Sunday Junior Cup.

Between 1999 and 2003 the Club decided to move to The Coventry & District Sunday Football Leagues. During this time they won the Senior Division One title in 2000, quickly followed by the Premier Two title the following year.

Westlea are now back in The Leamington & District Sunday League Division One and, since their return, have won the Division 1 Cup (2005/07/09),The Challenge Cup (2006) and The Cancer Cup (2007). They are current league champions, gaining their 9th, 10th and 11th league titles  (2007, 2008 & 2009). They have also reformed a reserve side which competed in Division 3 of the League for season 2007/08, finishing in a very creditable 3rd place as well as winning the Division 3 Cup and the Cancer Supplementary Cup. The Reserves are now competing in Division 2, finishing in 4th place for season 2008/09.
