TRAINING SESSIONS

West Hill Seniors TrainingIn general, to achieve and maintain an acceptable fitnes level, you should excercise at least 3 times a week. This does not mean, (although it can), 3 karate sessions. There must be a minimum of 1 karate session per week. However, 2 karate sessions a week is considered a basic for the serious student, and over a period of time, should bring the required results to the average person. Other sessions, if not karate, should be general fitness work, i.e. running, cycling, swimming, gym session, bag work or similar.

Some of the lower grade juniors at West HillTo achieve results with flexibility, the average person should complete a stretching session on an almost daily basis. This should, however, be gentle and cause no trauma whatsoever. Light and often is the key to stretching as opposed to a karate session which can impact quite serverely on the body and subsequently may need a recovery period.

WEST HILL TRAINING TIMES
West Hill DojoDOJO (Training Hall) - The Gymnasium, Castledown School, Priory Road, West Hill, Hastings.

SENIORS - Seniors train every Monday from 8.00pm until 10.00pm. The dojo opens at 7.45pm for students to arrive and generally limber up in preparation for the session.

JUNIORS - Juniors (under 16 years of age) train on Monday evenings from 6.00pm to 7.45pm. Again the dojo usually opens 15 minutes before the session starts. Juniors aged 14 or more may train at the senior session.

GENERAL - There is also a regular session on Sunday evenings usually at Summerfields Sports Center. This is for both seniors and juniors, and gives additional training usually aimed at events coming in our calendar or covering aspects not covered in the Monday sessions. This session is from 6.30pm - 8.00pm.

Camping Trip 2000 Weekend Camp sessions for seniors and older juniors are another regular event happening about 5-6 times a year at a local campsite.

Older juniors (above 13 years) can also train at the senior session, although the type of training they do may be restricted because of their status. This is also to introduce them to the senior club which they should join when 16.
