As part of our continuing strategy to give our subscribers something extra for sticking with us, we are proud to announce that SUBSCRIBERS only will receive a FREE archive supplement with their magazines. This means that issues 9-12 of Western Power and 28-33 of Classic Diesels & Electrics will include a special archive supplement UNAVAILABLE to non-subscribers. This is part of our strategy to give our supporters value for money and keep our subscription levels up. The front covers of the first two supplements will be posted up on this website shortly but all subscribers to both CD&E and WP will get these supplements with their regular magazines. We also have plans for DHI after the end of the first year. Of course, all this will depend on the re-subscription levels in order for us to carry on. But this is the plan at present. Everything is in place, we just need the subscribers to re-join. The supplements will not be on sale outside of Dartwest and only enough will be printed to cover the number of subscribers. The first supplement planned with WP9 is 'North British Lament' and we have some stunning photos and archive information to provide for our loyal supporters. The first one with CD&E issue 28 will focus on the Hymeks and Prototypes - again with something from the archives to really take you back in time. So the message is CLEAR if you WANT to make sure you DON'T MISS OUT on these fabulous supplements, then make sure you re-subscribe as soon as possible. All those of you, who have so far signed up for next year, will receive the supplements of course.

FABULOUS WESTERN POWER ISSUE 9 - WARSHIP SPECIAL!
If we can get enough re-subscribers to keep going, then the first issue of the new Western Power promises to be a classic! WP are delighted to confirm we have been allowed full and exclusive access to the entire WR casualty records for the North British Warships and the Swindon versions. The NBL-built machines were often labelled unreliable and went to early deaths as a result...but was their damned reputation correct? Well, for the first time in publishing history, WP have been given the chance to find out by scouring the casualty records collated by the Western Region - it makes for fascinating reading and an article that promises to get the tongues wagging. It has taken months of painstaking discussions to enable WP to get their hands on the complete records and we have to say they have been a real eye-opener into the reliability of both classes. So much so, that we have devoted much of issue 9 to our findings and we intend to follow this up with a Western special. You cannot afford to miss out on this cracking stuff so make sure you re-subscribe at the earliest opportunity.

Renewal time for those who have not already done so, is just around the corner, see forthcoming issues of WP8 and CD&E 27. Please remember to renew your subscriptions before the deadline printed in the magazine. This will have an ultimate bearing on the current review of our distribution and may, if the levels are not high enough, lead to the end of all the magazines being produced. The levels need to be at least 50% of where they are now and at present they are well short of that target. Failure to meet the 50% target will lead to some brutal decisions having to be made, including closure. The issues of CD&E 27 and Western Power 8 will bring us to the end of the year, a perfect time to call it a day should the subscription levels not reach their targets. We are already preparing to start a rolling programme of refunds starting with 'A Portrait of the Hydraulics'. This title has been cancelled due to a lack of support/interest. Refunds will commence at the end of this month. Furthermore, decisions on the cancellation of 'Thousands More', and 'The Fab Four' are still being discussed. Once again, a full rolling programme of refunds for all these titles will be begin once a final decision has been made. We understand that, in the current recession, interest in our titles is expected to fall, but we are also monitoring the purchase of magazines from other sources and the effect that is or may be having on our subscription base. We have enjoyed relaunching and launching CD&E, WP and DHI, but without an effective subscription base, there is no point in wasting time, energy and effort putting them together. Admittedly our delivery times are not the best, but the majority of you say as long as you get them, you are happy to support us, well now is the time to stand-up and be counted. We are thankful for the support of those who have taken up the specials offers, these will be made available again in the next issues, so that subscribers who are not internet friendly, will get the same deal. But we stress, there is little point in carrying on if the levels are below what is need to make the production of these titles viable. Therefore, it would be in your interests to let your friends know that their support is needed before it is too late. If a decision is taken to end CD&E and WP at the end of the next issues, all those who have subscribed via the special offer/s for next year will be refunded in full. We are sorry to paint such a gloomy picture but it we cannot go on without the necessary subs levels. Waiting for it to appear elsewhere will eventually kill the golden geese. The choice is yours chaps, subscribe and back the primary production team, or face life without a blast from the past - even if it is a little late now and then!
