Cycling Club

About Us

In 1989 the club was established by two gentlemen answering by the names of Ernie Hall & Andrew Stevenson. The club at this early stage had been governed by the "Northern Ireland Cycling Federation" which was then, in later years, transformed into the "British Cycling Federation".

From the time of the clubs infancy, it has grown to become one of the most popular clubs in Ireland, and is now governed by the prestigious "Cycling Ireland".

The following list of years and champions only serves to prove the clubs domination amongst other clubs in Ireland by including the following results :

 1989  Alan Hall .....................................................................Club Champion

1990-1993 Will Maxwell.....................................................Club Champion

1994-1995 Clive Adamson..................................................Club Champion

1996- Geoffrey Martin........................................................Club Champion

1997-2006 Steven Lindsay................................................Club Champion

2007-2008 Paul Wilkinson..................................................Club Champion

These champions are what makes the West down wheelers one of the most competitive and feared clubs in Ireland.

Many of the existing club members -to date, are some of the best riders we have encountered and can only give them the encouragement and support they deserve. As well as nurturing and supporting any new members of the club.  Any other club members who are wishing to transfer will be more than welcome to join..........
