ZOMBIE NIGHT

Hello again everyone. Tristan here with my views on Zombie Night.

for those of you that have seen it and like it, thank you. it was one of those "i hope they like it" moments when it went out on the web site. truth be told its not even finished yet, due to unforseen circumstances.

but anyway as it stands what you've seen is the final, (and i say that with all intentions of re-editing alot of it) product. you've commented on the lighting and the blood which we knew was going to be a problem in the first place.

but you have also praised the hell out of us. i just wanted to say thank you for that as it means alot to myself and mr skelly, that people appreciate our work for what it is and ultimately what it could be. we're not perfect but with a little guidance from our fans we can damn well try.

i did want to add one point, if any of you want to see one of your ideas come to life then just e-mail myself or wes and we'll see what we can fit in for a later season. make it half an hour long or even just an idea that we can work on and we'll try to do it justice. must dash now but expect more from me, tristan casey, very soon. thanks for your support everyone, it doesnt go un-noticed and so if you have any ideas that you'd like to see on your computer screens one day and you dont mind us making them then e-mail me at caseybigfoot@hotmail.com . i'll e-mail you back and we'll see what we can do. for now, i bid you farewell.

WES CASEY PRODUCTIONS A RETROSPECTIVE SEPT 2005

Hey film fans, tristan here. Just thought I’d give a few words about wes casey productions, the films so far and the stuff that’s still to come. First off Halloween revalations.

Halloween revelations was never meant to be a feature length. That’s not to say that it couldn’t have been, it just wasn’t planned as a whole movie. When we started HR, it was simple. Wes was just fucking about with my beloved little DV3000 mini memory card camera. It was christmas 2003, he was lonley, probably a little bit horny. So he decided to make a short with michael walking arount his flat in a very, start of H1 kinda way. He showed it to me and I was in awe of something that, little did I know, was about to grow, very slowly I might add, into something far bigger than just a fuck about.

We started to add to it. piece by piece it evolved. We got our friends to act in it, some more reluctantly than others, but still, despite that fact they succumed to our directorial persuasion techniques and put in a sterling performance.

Now, what you have to remember is that Halloween Revelations was completely un-scripted, occasionaly and very roughly story boarded, filmed on the spot with script and story line being decided there and then and lets not forget we had zero, I repeat zero budget. We eventualy finished 7 months later and had several versions of the film, half of which didn’t make it to the final cut, either because it was excess fat or just because it was shit and made no sense. The final version can now be found (currently unavailable on the site due to space constraints, but is available to order) here at the future of film, Wes Casey Productions. Its still a bit shakey and I’ll be the first to admit that even I find it hard to see whats going on or hear whats being said. I even find it hard to sit throught the entire thing with pleading to god to take me away.

That being said, its still a full length halloween fan film, to my knowledge the only full length halloween fan film, aside from anything made with a budget. And there is a lot to be learned from this film too. Aside from the occasional awesome camera angle or shot sequence its more like a, how not to kinda film. But we love it and its our first, it took our virginity, popped our cherry and opened our world to a whole new plain of camera trickery. Which is where Zombie night came in.

But you’l have to wait for another time for that director review.

HOT KILLER SUNDAY

Hello again internet movie watchers

tristan here with some views on Hot Killer Sunday. HKS was my final film for my access course to get me into university (i haven't even started yet). i think it only proper that i should let the world know how i came up with the idea for HKS and what stages it went through, from concept to final product. here goes, and stay with me cuz it gets a little complicated and multi faceted.

about 2 years ago i wrote a script for a film named Charlie (for which we shot a few bits but never finished, and for which there is now a trailer). charlie was a film about a troubled young man dealing with the loss of his best friends in a car crash that tore them from him and left him delusional and almost unaware of the world around him, easily susceptible to the whims and ideas of others and also left him with an over active imagination. in his head he would play out strange yet familiar scenarios in his head. these came in the form of what we, the audience, would have perceived as hallucinations. one of these hallucinations was a sequence involving his best friend taking on the roll of james bond. the sequence lasted around a minute or two and was nothing more than my friend wes poking his head round corners in a very bond like fashion. the scene was never finished and went unedited for a year or so, until one day wes came to me with the idea that we 'extend the sequence' or in other words he wanted to make the bond short he'd always dreamt of and in the aftermath of casino royale, he  came up with a 43 shot chase sequence involving my friend spencer, a black guy, and himself once again as bond. the sequence involved them running and jumping in much the same way as mr craig and the french guy that did all the free running in casino royale, which has to be given its due for being rather good.

so we got the shots we needed, edited them together and had a film now known originally as 'in more ways than one'. although this was meant to be a dream sequence in charlie i decided to scrap it and let wes have his fun with it and call it what he liked, after all it was for him in the first place. so it came down to my final project 6 months later and i had a few ideas of what I'd like to do. but out of all the ideas i had (and i cant write them here) i just wasn't feeling them. the another friend of mine, who'd seen the bond short, put it to me that i should use the bond short for my final film. what a good idea you might say. NO, thats cheating and the only thing i cheat at is cards! i wanted to use it but it just didn't feel right. I'd had to much help on the bond short and it just felt wrong, so i decided to write more bits surrounding a guy named Dirk Pouter. it was going be a fake film trailer with guns and sexy chicks and classic style that was reminiscent of the old school british gangster flick. the point i wanted to raise was the language the trailer used to emphasise certain aspects of the film it was advertising.

through a combination of wes's over thinking and my 1+1=7ness i decided to make it in the style of the fake trailers seen in the Grindhouse film recently released by Tarantino and Rodriguez (i thank you both from the bottom of my heart). i put the gun shot effects and the filter on the film, added some cigarette burns and some title splices and hey presto. HOT KILLER SUNDAY was born. i don't know if it works all the way but there's definitely some classic camera angles in there and the crescendo definitely grabs you but ultimately i had alot of fun making it and i hope one day i can make a whole film out of it. i hope you enjoy it and if you can see room for improvement, let me know. see ya later people, have a good summer.
