Cottage Poultry

Hi there and welcome to Cottage Poultry.

My name is Liz and I would like to introduce you to my birds..

I have been keeping poultry of all sorts  for many years now and enjoy the diversity of breeds available in this country.

I will introduce you to the breeds that I keep and hopefully encourage you too to perhaps keep a few birds for the pleasure of their beauty and for the added bonus of really fresh eggs to enhance your health.

I try and breed my birds as naturally as possible and only feed on GM free and Organic feeds.

I am happy to try and help with any queries you may have about keeping poultry but I have not gone into any of the issues regarding housing, feeding, health on this site as there are an abundance of excellent books available on the subject and so much information avaiable via the internet.

I am hoping to keep this site updated with fresh photographs of the birds with seasonal photos of chicks and growers as and when they arrive!

There is also a FOR SALE section at the end of this home page.

I am currently updating the site, so please bear with me as I have some lovely breeds to show you.  Should be up and running with new pics by end January.

I am hoping to do a big update of the site over the coming weeks to include pictures of birds bred this year.  I have some new stunning birds and am very excited about the 2008 breeding season and hope to be able to share with you what I am planning to breed next year.

I have added a page attempting to cover some of the welfare issues regarding intensively farmed poultry.  Please look at this page although the images are very unpleasant, because the more people that change their buying habits with regard to eggs and poultry meat, the sooner that more chickens will have their lives improved.  There are plenty of web sites that can be accessed if you wish to research this subject more fully.

Best wishes, enjoy your birds and visit again soon.

Liz
