Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a Bigfoot? In a short answer, a Bigfoot (also known as Sasquatch, and Yeti) is a humanoid, which is another form or species of a human. It is believed to be a form of a primate that lives in woods and forest throughout the U.S. They pose not threat to society unless they are attacked or invaded, and keep to themselves.
  • What does this “Bigfoot” look like? Descriptions vary, but typically, the Bigfoot species found in Georgia are known to be anywhere from six to eight foot tall. They are covered in thick hair from head to foot, which can vary in color. The hair color is usually dark, as in black or dark brown, but colors range from light gray to light brown, to black. No hair is present on the face, palms, or feet. Their arms closely resemble that of a monkey, and are longer than humans, typically hanging down to their knees. They weigh anywhere from 300-800 pounds.
  • How will I know when I spot one? Well, the descriptions of this creature’s gait vary. Typically, the creature walks upright, like that of a human, and sways it’s arms. It can either be incredibly stealthy and make little to no sound, or be extremely loud, and sound like a train going through the woods. They have been known to walk on all fours, like that of a gorilla. Judging from sightings, many of these animals stink, like that of rotting meat. Typically, they are always alert, and if they spot you, they will usually just go the other way, but have been known to engage humans, yet attacks are very rare. They may grunt when they walk off.
  • Can I tell if a Bigfoot has been in my area? Yes! These animals have hidden from humans for a very long time, and do not want to be found, but they do leave traces of their presence. The most common way to tell if a Bigfoot has been in your area is to find footprints. These can range anywhere form 14-17” long, even longer, and are usually very wide, these will look like large, human prints. Bigfoot creatures also create bark scrapes, similar to those made by deer, but these will usually be higher than 4-5 feet off of the ground, going all the way up to about 10'. Another way to tell if one has been in your area, these creatures will make territorial markers. These are usually made by bending and twisting small trees, or saplings together to make an “X” shape. These will be held in place by the bending of limbs on the trees. They have also been known to make markings just by stacking sticks on top of logs to resemble that of an asterisk (*). Immediately, if you find one of these signs, photograph it. Place a common object beside it such as a cigarette box, pencil, etc. that way you can judge size. They also make loud noises such as a Whoop! or long, loud whistles.
  • I think I've heard an unusual call or scream one time. Was it a Bigfoot? It's probably hard to tell, but your best bet would be to go to this great sight and listen to the recorded sounds of Bigfoot: Oregon Bigfoot & Sounds.
  • I’m not sure if my information is worth much, should I still send my information? Yes, please do. Even if all you experienced was the sound of something large walking on two legs coming towards you, that’s evidence enough to say that a Bigfoot could have been in the area, but please do not make up sightings or fabricate evidence.
  • This information isn't quite enough, can I go somewhere to learn more? Yes, this website is dedicated to the investigation of the West Central Georgia Bigfoot, not to tell of bigfoot. A few great sites are www.bfro.net, www.gcbro.com, and if you don't find your answers, you can post in the one and only Bigfoot Forums at www.bigfootforums.com.
