About 'Marvel Nemesis'

What is it?
Marvel Nemesis
is a map for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, which is to be very similar to old Arcade fighting games by
Capcom, featuring Marvel's Super Heroes and Super Villains. The fighting style will be totally different than Warcraft III had
ever intended and will be soley controlled by the keyboard. The use of your mouse will be very limited.

What's so special about it?
There are many things in this map that will make it unique to other maps created. One example is how the player controls
his/her character. The keyboard pretty much has everything you need in order to play this map. The arrow keys are for
movement, and currently the W,A,S, and D keys are for basic attacks. Combos will most likely be added as well, including
jumping and maybe ducking as well. Each hero/villain will have two special abilities that are usable in combat when their rage
bar is full. Special abilities are very useful for finishing off your opponent(s).

Will the Heroes & Villains look like the actual Super Heroes?
Yes. Each Super Hero and Super Villain in Marvel Nemesis will have a custom skin and/or custom model to help make them
look more like the actual character. But that's not all! Custom icons, spells, and environment will help make this more enjoyable
and more believable that it is a Marvel game inspired map.

How many players will this map hold?
At the moment the maximum will be only two players. We will most likely add a Single Player mode for players to practice
against bots as well. There is a possibility that we'll add the maximum players to four, six, or maybe even higher! But for now,
the map will remain as a duo/single player map until everything is completed. Maybe afterwards, we will then decide to increase
the player limit.

How many Super Heroes and Super Villains will be included in Marvel Nemesis?
At the moment there are 15 Super Heroes and 5 Super Villains. But he haven't considered our selves done! We will add a
lot more characters to choose from later on. There is a very high chance that the Super Villains force will be out numbered since we plan on adding Super Villains that are actually worth putting into this map.

Is this playable on Battle Net/LAN?
Yes. Though we prefer you play this on LAN since there is a lesser chance of you or your opponent(s) suffering from arrow key
delays.

Is there custom music and custom sounds?
Not yet, but we plan on adding custom audio some time in the future.

Is there a forum for this map project?
No. There will not be a forum for this project until the map is at least 60% completed.

Is this map released yet? If not, when is its release date?
The map has not been released yet and the map is not completed enough to even predict a release date. However we will
keep you all updated on when the release date is coming.

What percent is the map completed so far?
About 8% out of 100%. A lot of trigger work is to be done and the heroes & villains also need to be worked on as well. The
battle stages are coming out nicely, yet very simple at the moment to reduce lag. They will be improved and polished a lot
more in the near future.

Is this project hosted at any Warcraft III modding communities?
Unfortunately no. But this project may have a chance later on when this map is more developed and has more to show for itself.

Will there be over-powered Super Heroes/Super Villains?
At first there might be. There's always one or two characters that are too strong or too weak. But eventually we will fix the
imbalances and make the game balanced as possible. But some heroes may be stronger than specific heroes because maybe
because one of them is weak to the other's attacks. This will make you choosing your hero/villain a lot more strategic.

How many stages are completed? What stages are they?
There are currently three completed battle stages. We intend to complete at least two more. The completed ones are:
Desert
Grassy Plains
and City Streets.

What Super Heroes and Super Villains will be included in Marvel Nemesis?
Names in Red are Super Villains and names in Green are Super Heroes:

  • Batman
  • Beast
  • Captain America
  • Cyclops
  • Dare Devil
  • Dr. Doom
  • Ghost Rider
  • Green Goblin
  • Iron Man
  • Juggernaut
  • Magneto
  • Punisher
  • Spider Man
  • Storm
  • Super Man
  • The Human Torch
  • The Thing
  • Venom
  • Wolverine
  • Wonder Woman

Can Super Heroes fight Super Heroes, and Super Villains fight Super Villains? Or is this stictly force based?
Depending whether the other player(s) choose to fight with or against you. But if they choose to be your nemesis, then yes, you can kill another Super Hero or Super Villain, while in the same force. Meaning if you choose to be The Thing and the other player chooses another Super Hero such as Ghost Rider, then you can battle against each other, depending on what game-mode was selected.

Will there be a Cooperative Story-Mode?
Most likely no. But maybe after we've gotten the first few final versions of this map released we may. But don't count on it!

What is the main objective?
Your objective in this map is simple: Kill your opponent until he/she runs out of lives. The default amount of lives is two, but each individual player can choose how many lives he or she starts out with in the beginning of each match.

Will the environment of each stage be interactive?
What I plan to do at first for each stage is to make it pretty basic and almost all of them won't be interactive. But as the progress of this map comes closer and closer to completion, I will then add interactive stages that will allow you to knock your opponent off of the stage and get an easy win, perhaps projectiles that can be used to your advantage such as compressed oxygen tanks and bombs, and stuff that can be used both for your own advantage and disadvantage such as laser beams that track back and forth or a spikey wall.
