Writing for Inspiration

Introduction to Site and Author

Reading and writing has always been a delight to me.  As a child, Mother entertained us children with stories.  Often Mother would read or we would take turns reading. Eating popcorn and fudge along with reading a story was our idea of a happy winter evening.  When I was a teenager, nothing delighted me more than a sandwich, a cold drink and a book.  A summer afternoon found me so involved and that led me into writing.

While I was in college I found writing to be my niche.  To this day I have one creative article that I wrote for English class and it sparked my interest.  It was a few years later that I began writing regularly. One of my first efforts, that I
regularly
edit, is our family news letter.  In its 38th year, it is produced once a month.

My main area of work is children's stories, devotional articles and poetry.  Several of my poems have been published in poetry magazines and our church publications.  Two poems have been published, one in an anthology and another in Lamplighter Magazine.  I've written for Keys for Kids, and placed children's stories in our church publications.  Our church devotional magazine has carried several of my writings, and for short time I had a column in a small town newspaper -- Quinton, Oklahoma.

I’m a high school graduate with one year of college and one year of Business College.  Although I have no degree, I have taken three writers’ correspondence courses, one with Children’s Institute of Writing.   For a time I was a member the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

This year I conclude 8 years working with a Christian school.   I've tutored kindergarteners in reading, done substitute teaching in several classes, and assisted the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher, as well as serving as office assistant.

A few months ago, God led me to put my devotionals on a website as a witnessing tool.  As a Christian, I want my writings to honor God and encourage people.  I pray God will make this website a blessing to you.
