WATERHEAD16-10 WEST BANK BEARS

Waterhead played host to West Bank Bears of Widnes and stood tall yet again, this was yet again a full team effort with every player giving his all, Waterhead took the lead in the 10th  minute with fullback J. Hyland surging through the Widnes defence to touch down close to the sticks Marc Sneyd converting, the next try came from Gary Howson playing on the wing this came on the 20 minute mark from a clever cross field kick by scrum half Marc Sneyd, Sneyd also converted from out wide 12-0 happy days, after the break the Widnes side came back into the game with a good try also converted, minutes later centre Lewis Harewood went over after some great ball work out wide, West Bank scored more or less from the restart to make it a very nervous end to the game, this was a brilliant game to watch and complements go out to Waterhead on how we defended, top tackler on the day was Stefan ball with 15, man of the match on this occasion as got to go to all the team with a 100% team effort,  I have got to mention that Callum Leigh is looking more and more like Barrie Mac every game well done lads bomber.

WATERHEAD 58-4 WIGAN ST CUTHBERTS

WATERHEAD 15S MADE IT LOOK EASY AGAINST A VERY ILL DISCIPLINED WIGAN SIDE, THE LADS SCORED 10 TRIES AND CONVERTED 9 GOALS, J. HYLAND AT FULL BACK SCORED 5 OF THE TRIES AND MADE IT LOOK LIKE A STROLL IN THE PARK. THE OTHER TRIES CAME FROM CENTRES LEWIS HAREWOOD 1 AND LEWIS STRAUGHAN 2, IN THE FORWARDS TWO TRIES CAME FROM CALLUM LEIGH AND JOSH MYRIE WHICH WAS HIS FIRST OF THE SEASON AND WELL DESERVED, THE CONVERSIONS CAME FROM THE BOOT OF MARC SNEYD, THIS WAS NOT A GAME TO WRITE HOME ABOUT THERE WAS TENSION ALL THE GAME AND IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT SPILLED OVER WHICH IT DID, THE REF PLAYED A GOOD GAME CONTROLLING THE SITUATION RIGHT AWAY AND THE GAME WENT ON, THE MORALE IN THE CAMP IS VERY GOOD AT THE MOMENT AND THE RUGBY IS GREAT, BEST TACKLERS ON THE DAY WENT TO JAKE NOBLE AND MARC SNEYD WITH TEN EACH THAT JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW MUCH BALL WE HAD, MAN OF THE MATCH HAS TO GO TO FULL BACK J. HYLAND WITH 5 TRIES WELL DONE JONATHON, OK ANOTHER GAME OVER AND ANOTHER WIN KEEP IT GOING LADS YOUR DOING THE CLUB PROUD, WELL DONE BOMBER

 West Bank Bears 8-14 Waterhead

Waterhead went to West Bank Bears of Widnes at under 15s level and put on a fantastic display again with an under strength squad, its brilliant when you can travel under strength and put on such a display like this, it goes to show how well the lads are doing, every player needs a mention for their total efforts but Sam Harvey playing at centre was top big hitter Sam usually plays 2nd  row but seems to adapt anywhere you put him not to bad for the first season in rugby league, J.Hyland running close to take man of the match again came up with another good try off a kick to the corner from scrum half Marc Sneyd , Sneyd then converted, Lewis Harewood came up with a try at centre he also had a big game in defence his committment was 100% well done, but man of the match went to prop forward Callum Liegh who broke the Widnes defence to score the first and vital try, Callums total work load in this game was there for all to see he was outstanding well done Callum. Well the only thing left to say is a very big well done to every player we are playing some outstanding stuff, we now must keep going thanks for listening and learning Bomber. 100%  we  fear  no  one

WATERHEAD18 Thatto Heath 26

NWC Cup 1st  Round

Waterhead set ofF slowly against the premiership’s in form team Thatto Heath, the lads saw themselves 12-0  down in the first 15 minutes. This was a big game for the lads and the nerves were evident, we managed to slow things down a bit and then began to make our own important yards the lads then started to believe in there own abilities and scored a brilliant try through Sam Harvey powering over for his first try of the season well done Sam, Lewis Straughan converted to make it an impressive 6-12 at the break. After the break the lads really dug in and went in front with a break from full back Jonathon Hyland he could have scored himself but support from centre Lewis Straughan from centre showed real pace to finish off a superb try, converted by Marc Sneyd the score was level, minutes later full back Hyland and worthy man of the match scored a brilliant individual try Sneyd converting the score was then 18-12 with 6 minutes left, credit to the St Helens side they came roaring back in the dying minutes to take the game, one or two little errors let us down again we need the killer punch late on in the game we will get it, pleasing thing on the day was coming back from 12-0 down to go in front shows a lot of effort is being shown, don’t forget these are the form team from the premier so don’t feel let down  you were all outstanding. Well done Bomber.

WIGAN ST CUTHBERTS 0- 43 WATERHEAD

The under 15s got of to winning ways at Wigan St Cuthberts scoring 7 tries and kicking 7 goals, man of the match has to go to prop forward Callum Leigh with  4 tries and endless dominating runs forward. Very close to man of the match was Marc Sneyd with 1 try and 7 goals, other tries came from J. Hyland 1, Karl Dalloway 1, this was a fairly good  performance because after 15 minutes the score was level, the lads were very patient and once we hit them with 2 tries coming off field kicks the lads from the pie eating town had no answer, very well done lads on a very hot day, think  inches and we will get there, thanks for my birthday present bomber.

WATERHEAD 12 - 24 NEW SPRINGS LEGION

Not a good day for the under 15s dropping points on our first home game, full credit goes to the Wigan side for giving us such a tough game, New Springs came at us with all guns blazing and went into a convincing lead, this lead came from Waterheads own misfortune having made no end of errors I have never seen as many drop balls in all my days in rugby league and that was the big issue on the day, Waterhead tries came from J Hyland 1, and Lewis Straughan 1, Marc Sneyd converting 2 kicks, I am not complaining about the effort put into the game the effort was good, it all boils down to individual match preparation, on the day there were to many knock on's and not enough sleep, I will endeavor to do my bit please do yours bomber.

WATERHEAD 8-0 INCE ROSE BRIDGE
What I said was going to be a very hard season is coming true true, if this is going to be a sign of things to come we are all in for a feast of good entertaining rugby league, credit has got to go to both sides for giving us such a quality and entertaining game. Waterhead have done a lot of defensive work over the last few months and the hard work is now paying dividends. Along with the no end of fitness training, the first half was a question of when the first try was coming we were camped in the Wigan's side 20 for long periods with nothing to show for it, big credit to Wigan's defence. Half time was 4-0 points coming off two penalties kick by Marc Sneyd. Second half started very much the same until scrum half Marc Sneyd sold two dummies then went low to score at the side of the post, the kick was missed and the score stayed 8-0. This game was value for money with every player giving 100%, we also played big parts of the game not at full strength because of injuries, hopefully we can get all players fit for the next big game which is Rylands of Warrington, I cant praise the lads enough they were just tremendous thanks a lot Bomber.

 Waterhead 24-12 Chorley

In a game were Waterhead were under strength again with 3 key players out the rest of the team put up a fantastic display, the day was also marred by another injury to inform prop Dave Fletcher who had to retire early in the second half with a broken wrist, all the lads wish you a speedy recovery through this painfull time, this was a big 2 points for the lads and gets us back on a roll and that is what we are doing playing rugby worthy of beating anybody. I have a big problem this week naming a man of the match there were so many good displays, a big mention goes to Marc Sneyd with 3 tries, Callum Leigh with his first game at hooker he was good, Conan Millett with an all round full back display his best game ever , Jake Noble made  no end of yards he also came up with 2 superb off loads well done , man of the match has got to go to all the team who I thought were outstanding and goes to show what good attitude and commitment the lads are showing, its all coming together now so lets keep up the good work and training its excellent. 100% effort wins games keep it up bomber

WATERHEAD 4-20 RYLANDS

This was another disappointing day for me and the lads, what goes wrong in games like this you cant put your finger on, I know only too well the players can put a Waterhead shirt on and play with pride aggression and pace and power, today we had nothing going for us at all, the game was level five minutes into the second half and that was courtesy of Marc Sneyd's two penalty kicks, at one stage we could have gone on and maybe got something out of the game with Rylands tiring they scored first that was it, their confidence was up ours went down, this result will take a bit  of getting over if we are pushing for promotion this has got to be our last loss, really bad day lads you can do better bomber.

ASHTON BEARS 32-0 WATERHEAD

Well what can one say, in a game were the score line doesn't reflect the game the lads went to Ashton Bears well under strength. In the first set of six we went down 4-0, after that we woke up slightly having the better of the exchanges but with nothing to show for it again. Again soft possession was given away which in the end was costly, the lads did well out there against a team who have a 100% record so far,I would like to thank all those who played today, we have a week off now and hopefully we can get the injured back playing, so we hopefully can get back to winning ways, thanks again bomber.

Waterhead 36-10 Pilkington Recs

This was a most pleasing victory, the lads took an early lead with a try by Lewis Straughan playing at standoff for the first time, after that the St Helens side had there best spell of the game taking there tries well and going in to a 10-4 lead, Waterhead hit back just before half time to level the score at the break try by Callum Leigh, in the second half the forwards worked really hard this allowed our backs to run the show with some fantastic tries the pick was from J. Hyland scoring a full length of the field effort the game was then won, J. Hyland then scored a second also Lewis Harewood scored on his comeback with Lewis Straughan adding his second, Marc Sneyd kicked 6 goals, this was a sterling performance by all players including our subs who were magnificent, this was a week I thought we would be back at full strength but we were not, but the team effort was brilliant the sprit was good the moral was high and this enabled us to win the game. As coach I am very pleased lets keep it going thaNKS

 Chorley 12  Waterhead 32

On a day where the weather was dreadful the lads produced a simply magnificent perfomance there were less mistakes than on dry days we want more rain, i think all the forwards need a big mention for doing such a great job up front Callum Liegh hitting 15 tackles, weeks ago we where having loads of possession with nothing to show for it now we have work hard in training and we are scoring tries again all over the pitch, on this day there were some great tries scored these came from quick play the balls and some good field kicking by scrum half Mmarc Sneyd, tries were scored by M. Sneyd 1 also kicking 6 goals bringing he's tally to 16 points, full back J.Hyland scored 1, stand off Lewis Straughan got 1, prop forward Callum Liegh 2, and second rower Dave fletcher getting on the score sheet, this was a very pleasing result things have started to happen we are working as a team and i cant thank you enough for your fantastic efforts 100% committed a very big well done bomber.

NEW SPRINGS LIONS 12-15 WATERHEAD

Waterhead u15s went to new springs of Wigan with only 15 players and turned in a top class effort, this was are first game out for 4 weeks and the lads that played their part responded brilliant, both teams were on the same points at the start of play there for it was a bigger thrill taking the points and keeps us in contention with the high flyers, going of this performance we should have been top of the tree ourselves if it wasn’t for the earlier injuries at the start of the season, the Wigan side were on a high after taking the spoils from us at home with a much bigger side the Waterhead boys tackled there selves to a near stand still, all the early fitness training is now apparent, I am so pleased at this almighty effort from the lads I cant praise them enough, a very big well done, tries came from full back J. Hyland 2  who also had a massive game,  Ste Martin who has been missing for x number of games came up with the other try from centre, Marc Sneyd missed the conversions but came up with 3 brilliant drop goals to seal the game, all the forwards need a mention especially Callum Leigh who came up with 19 tackles and a man of the match performance with full back J. Hyland, this ability makes Callum one of the best prop forwards in the north west, we now get ready for this weeks game against Ince Rose Bridge who are second in the league it should be a brilliant game, a very big well done lads and thanks again for your non stop efforts bomber.  100% EFFORT.

 Ince 16-12 Waterhead

Well what can I say my heart goes out to the lads, on the day this was so far the best game of the season, the effort commitment and willingness to win the game was there and apparant for all to see, Lewis Straughan scored 2 fantastic tries coming off pressure field kicks from M. Sneyd, Sneyd also converting 2 goals, this score put us in total control with only 4 minutes to go, the ref played on untill Ince scored and converted and at this stage we were 7 minutes over time, the lads were gutted that would have putt us back in a great position with the leading group, we have now a mountain to climb but with perfromances like this who know's, on the day we were the better team Ince got out of jail and know it, anyway what can you do if the referees son playes for Ince, I have again got to thank each player from 1 to 17 they were awesome, again we put everything into the game and got  very little out of it , its hard like this at times but we will get our rewards very soon, a big well done bomber.

                                        RYLANDS 21 WATERHEAD 10  U15S

WELL  YET AGAIN LADY LUCK WAS NOT ON OUR SIDE, THE LADS TURNED IN A GUT BUSTING DISPLAY WORTHY OF UNDOING ANY TEAM, AGAIN MY HEART GOES OUT TO THEM, WATERHEAD SCORED 2 TRIES RIGHT OUT OF THE TOP DRAWER BY LEWIS   STRAUGHAN  MARC SNEYD MISSING COUNTLESS KICKS, AT THIS STAGE WE WERE 10-0 UP, THE GAME CHANGED THEN WITH 1 OR 2 REFEREE DISCIONS  WENT RYLANDS WAY THEY TURNED THE SCREW ON US, WE HAD A REALLY BAD 15 MINUTES AT THE END AND IT COST US THE GAME, EVERYBODY OUT THERE NEEDS A BIG MENTION THE LADS ARE PLAYING THE BEST RUGBY I HAVE SEEN FOR A LONG TIME, I THINK ALL WE NEED IS A BIT OF LUCK HERE AND THERE, TOP EFFORT LADS KEEP IT GOING BOMBER.

EVERY  DOG AS ITS DAY WE WILL HAVE OURS

Pilkingtons 6  Waterhead 26

Waterhead got of to winning ways with a good win at St.Helens side Pilkington Recs, this was the first game back for 5 weeks and you could tell we have had a big break, having  said that the lads performed well enough to beat a good Pilks side, Lewis Straughan opened the scoring  with a fine try coming of a cross field kick by marc sneyd, Lewis Harewood scored 2 fine tries out at centre and played a good hard game, Ste Martin playing at stand off scored a good individual try with the celebration just as good. The try of the game for me was a good grubber kick by Marc Sneyd and good timing of his run by full back J. Hyland took the ball brilliant for a great touch down this was a good all round try Marc Sneyd also converted 3 goals. I think all players played there part in this game but man of the match  has to go to second row forward Dave Fletcher who came up with 20 tackles and took the ball up  at every chance  well done Dave, this puts us in good stead for next weeks game against Chorley , keep the good work up lads you are playing some really good rugby, thanks Bomber
