This was going to be my present to myself when I lost all my weight but my hubby got it for me this past Valentine's Day 2/08.

Here's a great kitchen scale.  I think I paid $20 for mine.  These kitchen gadgets can get pricey.  Depending on what you like you can get one relatively inexpensive.

 

Here's the heart rate monitor I am curently using.  It's by Polar.  This one is not cheap.  It retails for $110 but I got it on Ebay for $80.  Here are some of the features that made me purchase this HRM:

Polar OwnZone®

Determines personal heart rate limits for an exercise session.

The Polar OwnZone (OZ) feature determines an individual exercise zone. It guides you through an appropriate warm-up routine and automatically determines a safe and effective exercise heart rate zone - your OwnZone - while taking into account your current physical condition.

Polar OwnCal®
Counts and displays calorie expenditure.

The Polar OwnCal feature shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. In Polar M-series Heart Rate Monitors, OwnCal takes into account your gender, body weight and exercise heart rate. The calculation starts when your exercise intensity reaches 100 bpm. In Polar S-series Heart Rate Monitors, OwnCal calculation takes into account VO2max, HRmax and exercise heart rate. The calculation starts when your exercise intensity reaches 60 % of your maximum heart rate or 90 bpm - whichever is lower. In Polar Weight Management products the calculation starts when you put your transmitter on and start exercising.

You can set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure with the OwnCal feature, and then monitor the accumulated amount of calories expended during a single exercise session or a set amount of time e.g. one week.

Zone Pointer
A visible and audible feature on the display of your heart rate monitor showing your target heart rate zone and where your current heart rate is within that zone.

Some people have had irregular heart rythms and were able to detect it with the heart rate monitor.  Other's have had heart attacks and the monitor helped save their life.  They have a web based program that allows you to customize a training plan just for you.  This watch is the best thing ever.  If you're exercising below your heart rate the alarm will sound ... telling you to pick up the pace.  If you're working above your maximun heart rate.... the alarm will sound.... telling you to slow down.  You burn fat when your heart rate is in a specific zone.  Too low..... not burning fat..... Too high... burning muscle.  It TRULY is a PERSONAL trainer!  How can anybody work out without this watch???

 

These are Adidas Supernova Cushions.  I LOVE THEM!  I was telling my friend, who runs all the time... that my feet and back ALWAYS hurt when I worked out.  She asked me if I had flat feet and told me to try these shoes.  No more foot pain!  Thery're great!   I was always buying extra cushions for the inside of my shoes and still my feet hurt!  This is one thing I recommend you spend good money on.  Why would you work out if you're going to be sore AND have foot pain?  Not worth getting cheap shoes.
