I'll start by saying that I enjoy reading weight loss stories of REAL people. I surfed the internet and read lots of wonderful stories. However, I couldn't relate much to the people. Yes, I have children and some of the people on line have kids too. I have high blood pressure like some of the people who have embarked on weight loss journeys... Crazy as this may sound, I wanted to find someone who ate the same foods I did. I'm from Puerto Rico and I just couldn't imagine never eating the foods I grew up with. So my journey was to find some 'healthy" versions of Puerto Rican recipes.
Well, you guessed it. I never found those people or the recipes.
Here's my condensed story:
My name is Linda.
I am 35 years old and live with my wonderful and supportive husband of almost 11 years, our 9 year old son and 6 year old daughter. We have an 18 year old son who just graduated from US ARMY BASIC TRAINING. He is there to serve our country for 5 years in a Military Intelligence capacity. We're very proud of him.
I also attend college to complete my B.A. in Psychology. The goal is to obtain a Master's in Clinical Psychology and on to a PhD. Cheer me on. 
I'm on the road to a TOTALLY new ME! And you know what? I KNOW I WILL DO IT! Let me tell you my story.
I was raised as an only child and both of my parents were very sedentary so I didn’t really “learn” to be active. Granted, my father could eat and eat and he was always very thin. I did swim for my school’s team but after high school, I stopped swimming as well. I was never overweight growing up so I never thought I would have a weight problem. I thought maybe I'd be like my dad. Eat everything and not gain weight. Yeah O.K. But after having 3 children my weight slowly crept up to 203 pounds. Over the years I tried Herbalife (several times), Pills (which got me to the ER with Xtremely high blood pressure), Weight Watchers (several times), Ediets, Calorie King, Sparkpeople and Fitday to mention a few. I guess you can call me a professional dieter. NOTHING worked. I lost up to 20 pounds only to gain them back. I've even joined every gym there is! Bally's, the Y, L.A. Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, Gold's and a Women's fitness club. I attended for a while but that didn’t last either.
However, I was still missing the most important piece of the puzzle. My MIND wasn’t strong because I wasn’t around people that had achieved what I wanted. Does that make sense? No one in my life wanted to lose weight nor were they actively pursuing it. And in my family, (I come from a Puerto Rican family that celebrates everything with food), the minute you drop a couple of pounds it’s a bad thing. Everyone comments… Wow! You’re looking anorexic! LOL
One night when I couldn’t sleep, I saw an infomercial for Team BeachBody workout DVD’s. It looked interesting but I didn't purchase anything that night. After not being able to sleep on some other nights and several infomercials later, I opted to order Tony Horton’s 10 Minute Trainer. The name was not too intimidating. :0) So, I ordered it. (I have to mention that in the past years I had also purchased Turbo Jam, Power 90 and Slim In 6 from Beachbody and NEVER even opened them) But something was different this time. I literally was tired of being tired.
I went to their site and signed up for the FREE WOWY virtual gym where I could log in my workouts and have a chance at winning $300 to $1,000 every day. They also have a grand prize of $250,000 once a year! Get paid for working out???? That's more money given away than The Biggest Loser Show! And you don't have to audition for anything! Just work out in your living room! Well, after logging in to WOWY and exchanging messages with the other people that were also working out in front of their T.V.'s, I knew I would stick with this program. I saw person after person, men, women, young, old, tall, short… All of them were working out and all of them had AMAZING before and after pictures! I was like… WOW! I HAVE TO BE A TRANSFORMATION STORY! Chatting with these people is very motivational and if you have more detailed questions you can talk to your Coach, which is FREE! FREE! FREE!
I have to say I have already gone from 203 to 183, from a size 16/18 to 11/12 and my goal is to be a size 5/6. At first, my husband was skeptical and even though he loves the treadmill he is about to start P90X, another one of the workouts this company has. I Love It!
I NEVER woke up early to do anything before! Now I wake up 1st thing in the morning and do my workout. I have more energy than ever!
