Wisconsin Airedale Terrier Club

Dear WATC Members,

Thanks to all the folks who kept up with the date change and braved the somewhat chilly weather to attend our Annual Walk.  The dogs were quite happy with the slightly coolers temps, and we still managed to have some people who enjoyed their lunch on the porch.  All in all, we had 35 people and 21 dogs.  Everyone was on their best behavior, including the dogs!

We happily welcomed new members Mike and Jeanne Wentworth, along with their 2 daughters and 14 week old Airedale, Jazz.  Please add their info to your directory:

Please keep me posted with any changes in e-mail or regular addresses.

The excitement is definitely building for our upcoming Floater and Specialty shows, along with the social events of the weekend.  This website explains the schedule and includes a sign-up sheet for all the events.  http://airedale.org/pdf/floater.pdf

For those of you who usually attend the specialty show and luncheon on Saturday, that event will still be taking place, but this year we'll have a large tent, banquet tables, catered food (fried chicken, potato salad, fruit salad), and Sue Reimund has graciously agreed to make Sandi's famous Penne Salad with Spinach and Pine Nuts for the entire group.  (We hoping for 75 - 80 people.)  The luncheon is free, as is the Grab 'N Go breakfast early in the morning, but we would appreciate an RSVP, either to me, or to Diane Schlicht, who is taking reservations for all of the events (her e-mail address is on the website).  There will NOT be an auction at the luncheon.  The auction will take place at the banquet on Saturday evening, at the Olympia resort.

**ATTENTION ALL BAKERS**
We would like to offer a selection of home-baked brownies and cookies at the luncheon.  If you would like to help out with this, please e-mail me - FriedaShan@aol.com.   If your 'specialty' is plain brownies (frosted or not), brownies with nuts, or chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, or peanut butter cookies, let me know!  If you could have the brownies pre-cut on a tray, even better

In addition, if you own a large cooler, please consider bringing bottled water or a couple 12 packs of soda.  As we get closer to the date, we'll have a better idea of numbers needed.  Again, please e-mail me if you can help with beverages.

This year at the Airedale Field Nationals in Ohio, Ch Strongbow Tullamore Dew CGC (Tulla), owned by Sandi Cooley, was awarded The Australian Sash. This award is presented in the English tradition to recognize outstanding achievement. The award is given to the most promising young dog (at it's first Nationals) in the Upland and Retrieving Hunt Tests, in the opinion of the judges.

Also, at this years Nationals in Ohio, the first qualifier for The Winston & Randy Cooley Memorial Trophy was awarded to Stone Ridge Wrought Iron (Forge) owned by Ron Swisher.
This trophy is in memory of a very special Airedale and his devoted handler and symbolizes the loving bond and partnership between them. It honors the tremendous hard work and extraordinary accomplishment of attaining the Master Hunter Versatile title. The MHV award is the highest level of retrieving, upland and fur.
