QUR'AN

Allah said : " O ye who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam."

HADITH

Narrated By 'Umar bin Al-Khattab : I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for."          -Bukhari and Muslim

A SHORT DIALOGUE :

Yahya ibn Humayd said, "We went to Imam Hammad ibn Salamah once and found him sitting with children narrating hadith to them. When he completed and the children left, we approached him and said, 'O Abu Salamah, we are the seniors of your tribe. We have come to you to learn. Why do you leave us and turn instead to these children?'"

" He replied, 'I once saw in a dream that I was sitting on the banks of a river, bending over with a bucket to get water to drink. After drinking, I turned around and saw these children standing there, and so I gave them the bucket of water after me'" (Ibn Abee Ad-Dunya, Kitaab al-Ayaal).

A poet once said:

Young trees, if you raise them firm, they will grow straight,

They will not slouch if kept firm with a stick.

Perhaps discipline for young ones brings benefit

But that same discipline will no longer bring results in a senior.

Q & A
What is a mosque? Of all Muslim institutions, the mosque is the most important place for the public expression of Islamic religiosity and communal identity. A mosque is a physical manifestation of the public presence of Muslims and serves as a point of convergence for Islamic social and intellectual activity. The Arabic word for mosque is masjid, which means a 'place of prostration' before Allah.
