Below is a listing of our fallen heroes who served and passed away as dedicated members the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department:

Virgil "Bud" Spore - Served from 1978 - 2013. Bud was born June 5, 1934 in Gilmer County, WV. Bud was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Dept beginning his service in 1978. He remained a member until his death October 25, 2013 at the age of 79 with 35 years of service.

 

Hubert  "Butch" Carpenter - Served from 1978 - 2010.  Butch was born May 1, 1946 in Excelsior (Upshur County, WV) Butch was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Dept beginning his service in 1978. Butch unexpectedly passed away April 2, 2010 at his home in Hodgesville. An active and dedicated firefighter for nearly 32 years, he remained a member until his death at the age of 63. 

                                                                    

William "Bill" Embrey - Served from ? - 2002. William was born January 30, 1931 and was a member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in ?. Bill remained a member until his death on April 6, 2002 at the age of 71.

Lee Carrico - Served from 1978 - 2002.  Lee was born September 12. 1923 and was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in 1978. An active and dedicated member for nearly 24 years, he remained a member until his death March 31, 2002 at the age of 78.

James "Jim" Greene -  Served from 1978 - 2000.  Jim was born November 13, 1942 and was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in 1978. An active and dedicated member for nearly 22 years he remained a member until his death as the rank of Fire Chief July 16, 2000 at the age of 57.

Morris Craven - Served from 1978 - 2000.  Morris was born December 16, 1906 and was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in 1978. An active and dedicated member for  21 years, he remained a member until his death April 23, 2000 at the age of 93. 

Wilbur Johnson Jr. - Served from ? - 2000.  Wilbur was born February 9, 1934 and was an active and dedicated member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in ?. He remained a member until his death March 7, 2000 at the age of 66.

Russell West - Served from 1978 - 1996.  Russell was born January 9. 1944 and was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in 1978. An active and dedicated member for 18 years, he remained a member until his death September 30,1996 at the age of 52.

Oscar Andrews - Served from 1978 - 1996.  Oscar was born September 9, 1924 and was  a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department  beginning his service in 1978. An active and dedicated member for nearly 18 years, he remainded a member until his death March 12, 1996 at the age of 71.

James Headley - Served from 1978 - 1994.  James was born February 26, 1935 and was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in 1978. An active and dedicated member for nearly 16 years, he remained a member until his death November 24, 1994 at the age of 59.

Herbert Swecker - Served from 1978 - 1986.  Herbert was born August 31, 1918 and was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in 1978. An active and dedicated member for 8 years, he remained a member until his death July 1, 1986 at the age of 68.

Herb Smith - Served from 1978 - 1985.  Herb was born February 18, 1925 and was a charter member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department beginning his service in 1978. An active and dedicated member for 7 years, he remained a member until his death January 2, 1985 at the age of 59.
