Belle Vue, P4 layout

Here they are...the photos we couldn't pay anyone to take...

This page has photos taken by the keen eyed and digitally challenged members of the NMRS. The innocent claim sanctuary...

"Belle Vue" is a fictional station somewhere in the Midlands. The station
follows GWR practice, while on the lower level is an LMS rebuilt, 4-road LNWR engine shed which has been scratch built to the highest exhibition standards. The shed is loosely based on the one at Tredegar.

A rather clean 8f, is being called on, in the shed.

Some of these photos don't show the ballasting that has now been completed.

View from the fiddle yard end, where this bridge disguises the entrance.

GWR 5632 waits in the spur ready to be called back for shunting duties.

GWR diesel railcar pulls into the bay platform

Looking back into the station from its approaching roads.

From this photo, you can see just how much work has gone into getting the layout ready for exhibitions...and there's still lots to do. Thanks to Bill, the ballasting is now complete!

A 14xx on a Push-Pull service enters the Bay platform.

Standard Class 4 tank 80079 starts to depart. The new signal box can just be seen.

Light engine starts to depart.

The Chairman's pride and joy and a beautiful runner as well. Still needs the head codes box..

80079 brings in the Arctic set, to the right is the brilliant engine shed of Tall Tony T.

Looks like the real thing to me!

Each engine has its' own story so they say, in our club that's certainly true. Druid is a case in point, beautiful looking, but couldn't pull the skin off a cold rice pudding! Until the youth section got hold of it, now it would give the Starship Enterprise a run for it's money! This specimen belongs to the clubs Secretary.

Looking through the bay platform...

Just a small part of the engine shed again, it does look good though!

Don't you just love steam, gas wagons at the front are by the Chairman

Thanks to Rod Cameron for this photo taken at Scaleforum.

And thanks to Tall Tony T for loan of the engine - superb Super D by Fred Lewis.

Lots of work to be completed. Signalling to be decided on and then built, ground signals built, ballasting finished, more industrial building to be done, more engines to be built, more goods and coaching stock needed.
We've also decided to make all the points at the front of the layout operate so we can move engines around a little easier than before. The layout is now DCC controlled, which includes route setting and soon the activation of the appropriate signals.

Thankfully, there aren't any trees planned.

Really good news...the conversion to DCC has been completed, we ran our first time table using this method last week (July 27, 2007). Most of the locos have been converted as well...the constructional grade bluetak is holding up really well.

The last outing/showing planned for this layout will be in May 2009.
