Anorexic's Advice

Do you already have an eating disorder?

A lot of applicants to Proanorexia have an eating disorder such as bulimia, binge-eating disorder, or compulsive overeating disorder, but desperately want to lose weight so they decide to 'switch' to anorexia by adopting a starvation diet and behaving like an anorexic.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to choose which eating disorder you have. Especially bulimics because often that's induced by a limited calorie intake originally, and restricting calories would only make the eating disorder worse. You have two choices - sticking with your eating disorder as it is, or recovering.

Don't know if you have an eating disorder? Read http://www.freewebs.com/josiesed/diagnosticcriteria.htm to see the diagnostic criteria.

Help

Fortunately, there are sources of help for people suffering from eating disorders. Proanorexic sites are not neccessarily best, as they tend to be biased against people with overeating problems, and those who are overweight, and as they are often constantly losing weight and appear to be 'in control', it can be depressing. Here are some good sites:

Livejournal Communities:

http://community.livejournal.com/purgatorium/ Support for people with bulimia (though may not be helpful if you are in recovery).
