Anorexic's Advice

Is being thin as good as you think?

Being thin won't neccessarily improve your life (unless you are currently overweight to the extent it effects your health). Being thin doesn't make you happy, doesn't make you more popular, doesn't neccessarily make you pretty, doesn't make you more attractive to guys, doesn't make you more successful, doesn't make clothes look better.

Our society tells us that thin=beautiful thin=success thin=perfection, but in reality it's just not true. We're thin, but we feel worse than we ever have. Is it really worth the effort? Are you sure you want to just blindly follow society's ideals? Wouldn't it be amazing if all the effort our society's girls and women channel into weightloss was channeled into something worthwhile - such as charity or a talent. Many of us anorexics wish we could - we have aspirations to become doctors, psychiatrists, writers, musicians, scientists, therapists, artists - there's so much potential yet it's all disturbed by our relentless attempt to become thin and 'perfect'.

The most beautiful people are those who are happy in themselves, and we should accept diversity. Not all aspire to be stick-thin blonde tanned clones.
