researching Hi everyone, have moved to Bingil Bay in Far North Queensland and investigating the Cutten Brothers who selected a portion of the 'Felton' resumption near Toowoomba, owned by James Tyson. There they made their home, called 'Gentleman's Seat', for some ten years. This selection proved too inadequate for their increasing flocks so they purchased 'Comet Downs' in Central Queensland. Later this property was disposed of. Herbert Cutten carried on the Felton selection and James, a surveyor, worked in the Rockhampton district. researching John Davison - who married Susannah Martin(nee Garrick)- widow at the Presbyterian Manse North Brisbane 12th March 1862. Their son John Frederick was born January 1863 - Brisbane, then they moved to Sydney where they settled permanently. The Presbyterian Church have kindly supplied me with copy of the marriage certificate, but the problem I have is that John Davison was chinese and I have been unable to find where and when his chinese name was anglicised. To confuse matters - the name of John's father is listed as John Davidson. Have contacted the Chinese/Australian Historical Society by e-mail and normal post and although I have included stamped addressed envelope etc., have not received any response and as their website seems not to have been updated for a few years I must assume the society no longer exists. E-mails to universities and immigration departments have also been non-productive

researching I am actually trying to find out information on the Dulbydilla Cemetery which apparently has about 20 graves in it from the late 1800's and early 1900's. Dulbydilla or Dulvadilla or Black Waterhole were all names that this area was known by at the time. I have a copy of the survey for the cemetery and also a few names of some of the people buried there. We have located the markings of some of these graves but we can't seem to track down any records of these burials. Dulbydilla was the end of the Railway Line heading west from Roma-Mitchell-Dulbydilla in the late 1800's where there was about 600 navies located at the time. There was a murder here also which has been well documented...the murderer being a Tim Tee who murdered another Chinaman. Constable O'Sullivan was the young Irish policeman here at the time. We actually live here on Dulbydilla Station located between Mungallala and Morven and we are very keen to restore the sight of this cemetery. Any help in how to go about finding any records or stories/people relating to this area would be appreciated. Thanking you

researching I was born in Stanthorpe and lived in Toowoomber for the first part of life, before going to Tasmania with my husband and 2 daughters in 1960. The last 20 years I have been researching early Tasmanian life, convicts, military, free arrivals etc. and mostly Norfolk Islanders who went to Tasmania between 1807-1813. I am hoping by going on the roots list I can attempt to find out more about my great grandmother who came from Ireland in the early 1870s ans settled at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane.
