“Imagine
all the people living in peace
You
may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.
I
hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.”
John Lennon.
We have a message for all Mauritians today.
We represent
We believe that peace can become a reality when all of us
people rise above national boundaries, politics, religions and ideologies.
We recognize that feelings of worth can flourish only in
an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated; communication is
open, where we all live like a nurturing family.
We want to tell the leaders of today and tomorrow that
actions speak louder than words, that the binding force of mutual respect and
love must be our ultimate aspiration.
We reject stereotyping, hatred, intolerance, biased policies,
and practices, but we are all convinced of peace as a never-ending process, the
work of many people, of peace as an attitude, a way of living that should not
overlook our common interests.
We hold faith that we have thousands of reasons to live together
in compassion with the hope of social justice: a culture worthy of man’s
intelligence.
We call upon politicians to unite because it doesn’t
matter how much power and prosperity a nation achieves if its people do not
walk as one.
Therefore, we make an appeal to you children and
youngsters, our leaders of tomorrow, to you political leaders, to you all
Mauritians to join in this good cause because every moment is an opportunity,
every one of us can be a potential activist for peace, every minute is a chance
to change the world.
Let us therefore not be comforted by “feel good and do
nothing”
Let us alter the landscape of intolerance and be
craftsmen and architects pf peace.
Let us join our voices to denounce all forms of violence,
injustice, prejudice and discrimination.
Let us talk of justice, fair treatment of our neighbors
and the primacy of love as supreme value.
Let us remember the importance of walking and working
together for lasting peace in our country.
Because of your participation in WOM,
We change our lives.
