EMLEY 3-0 SPENNYMOOR 11.12.04
A great performance by all against a very poor Spennymoor side.

Emley started well, but both strikers Adam Muller and Kingsley Jones were closely marked by the Spennymoor central defenders. Jones did get a chance of 12 minutes, but his attempted bicycle-kick flew just over.
Emley opened the scoring on 33 minutes from Andy Wright's corner. The ball came out, and was almost the same as Marc Thompson's winner against Witton in the same net, only this time it was Wayne Benn.
Spennymoor had their first real chance 5 minutes later, but Emley's stand-in keeper made a good, sharp stop to his right to keep the lead intact.
Great play from Emley fed Paul Staniforth down the left. His cross was met by Adam Muller four yards out, but his header was just wide.

In the second half, the game began to turn scrappy. Most Spennymoor players were booked (at least five or six), and so too was Thompson and Benn for Emley. Emley were awarded a penalty on 61 minutes when the tall Spennymoor defender clearly obstructed Adam Muller's sprint in the area. The referee pointed to the spot, and Andy Wright made no mistake with the finish.
2-0 up, but still not safe. Although Spennymoor had not created a clear cut chance, they looked dangerous on the break. Thomas Raw was put through on 80 minutes, and went down at the same time as the goalkeeper dived for the ball. A yellow card for diving was the outcome.
Substitute Steve Kenworthy completed the scoring three minutes from time with a neat finish.

TEAM: Didn't catch name of keeper, Tonks, Staniforth, Thompson, Wood, Lindley, Benn, Fox, Jones, Muller, Wright.
SUBS: Kenworthy (for Wright), Meirzwinski (for Thompson) and Hatto (for Jones).

ATTENDANCE: 112 (Very Very poor, but it is 2 weeks to christmas, and still wondering where the Spennymoor fans were.)

BAMBER BRIDGE 2-3 EMLEY

A last-minute penalty by Bamber Bridge's Chris Ward gave his team three points in the mid-table clash at Irongate. This was Ward's hat-trick and his reward for playing well all afternoon against a good performance by Wakefield-Emley. Emley themselves had missed a penalty in the second minute when Adam Muller was fouled in the area, but unfortunately, Christian Fox's shot was well saved by Bridge's keeper Andy Banks. Ward opened his account on 28 minutes when he struck low to beat Paul Cuss, after Kingsley Jones had blazed over for Emley, and Muller's flik was well saved by the Keeper. 1-0 at half time, although Emley had run the first half. Ward struck again from a set-piece after 50 minutes, but Emley captain Marc Thompson's neat finish pulled it back to 2-1 eight minutes later, and Thompson struck again with a fine volley into the top corner to send the travelling band of supporters into raptures behind the goal. Substitute Steve Kenworthy had the ball in the net minutes later, but his effort was ruled offside for offside.

The penalty was a cruel blow for Emley, who once again lost by the odd goal, and are now 17th, with their next game at home to Spennymoor United next Saturday (3pm).

Emley: Cuss, Tonks, Staniforth, Benn, Curtis, Meirzwinski, Fox, Thompson, Jones, Muller, Wright.      Subs: Kenworthy, Lindley, Bitton-Price.

Attendance: 192
