Welcome to you in this private section of mine, feel free to skip this page and return back to the main page at any time for the information presented is just some notes about my personal life and how I manage it.
I wanted to document these little notes for your reference, if you're interested to know more about my character, or to get a better view about me because they accuse me of being mysterious, so I decided to give up mystery until forever and write down all what I could publish here in this site.

Before School

My family is a typical Egyptian family, started and still in Cairo, the Egyptian capital. I was born in the house of my grandpa, the great father of my mother, he was the one who brought me up, took much care of me and my elder sister. We lived there for almost 3 years, and then, moved to the house of our biological father. In the great house of my grandpa, I acquired kindness, honesty, quietness, love and joy, but there was still some mysterious sadness coming up, as if a very little child was predicting that it's the most lovely period in his life that will never back again. I was used to call my grandpa: "dad" because there was no father since then. He was the most honest person I had ever met in all my life, and whom I mostly respect and owe everything I live in, great mercy from Allah be upon him and his soul.

To a little innocent child it was like a dream to be taken away to another house that's the so-called the house of my father. I felt strangeness, sadness, and distrustfullness is coming to end up the innocent show of my life to start the endless show of mystery, seriousness, and interior sadness which is still there. I was very serious from the very beginning, and I couldn't find a proper reason for that, toys were good means for my sister, but to me, it was different, I felt as if they are mocking me with such toys, I searched for something different, but I couldn't find it, and still I'm not sure what it is, may be the lost kindness I was drinking from grandpa, may be the peace of mind that I sometimes resort to, for the sake of myself. In 1985, my brother Mohammad was born, and in 1986 our youngest sister came to existance, but I was just starting my primary study in Hamamat alQobba Noor school for the blind, it was a boarding school, so I had almost no chance to be acquainted with the changing soul of the family life.

At school, university, and more

As a blind, I coped perfectly well in AlNoor Hamamat AlQobba school in 1985. I get my primary education certificate in 1990, my prep education certificate in 1993, and my secondary education certificate in 1996. At that time, I had nothing to do except for my regular studies, and some school activities: I joined the school music team, but soon I couldn't go on because such activity was a good reason for poor minded students to escape from attending the regular classrooms. I joined the sports team and gave it up for the same reason. I joined the theatre activity, and get the membership of the English family at school, the school team for decoration and cultivation, and many other cultural activities. I gained high respect in all fields and activities I joined, but my regular study was much more important. I win the prize of the best actor on theatre, october 1992. I win a golden medal as a self-independent chief of classroom, March 1993. I represented my school as an honour class student in a jurney to Luxor and Aswan, April 1994. In 1996, I was one of the honour students in representing the school in a competition with Taha Husein secondary school, where we win the competition. School certificates prove that I was an excellent student regarding the annual assessment.

Then, I joined the English department, faculty of Arts, Cairo university and I was the first and only blind student accepted. Life at Cairo university is valuable, I started my undergraduate studies as soon as I had been accepted, but a university student is required to exert a doubled effort to achieve a small part of his goal. I obtained my B.A. in English language and literature in the year 2000.

In my life at university, I befriend with some of my coleagues in the English department. I suffered as any blind student at university from the less importance given to accessible material: nobody to read for me, no recorded materials as I'm the first in the department. As a self-independent person, I resort to nobody at university to study with me, just the very little readings made after coming back home. One of my friends was very fond of computer, he was to speak with me little about it, but I had nothing to do with it. Then, one of my school coleagues phoned me to ask about the computer service made for the blind to convert the ink-printed book into braile. I wondered! but soon I started searching for such service: people introducing the service were very reluctent, and very slow in understanding one's need. I decided then, to be a user of computer to be able to help myself at university. I joined the computer course in the blind center, ISSR, Cairo university in september 1997. All other trainees in the course were not serious as they didn't attend even the first session. The trainer asked me to wait until other trainees join the course, but I got a kind permission to attend regularly and I will try myself.

English is really helpful to a new computer user, so I started acquiring the basics of computer skills as well as the DOS course. Also, I was self-introduced to assesstive technology through the HAL5 screen reader worked under the DOS environment. My analytic view enabled me to understand what is beyond the high performance of HAL. I started to read more about the HAL screen reader and I realized the possibility for HAL to serve in dealing with so many applications such as WordPerfect! I left out the MSDOS Editor and went to the fascinating word processor. At that time, I started collecting my ETexts via the Internet with the help of my friends, read it in the blind center with the use of great WordPerfect. As time passes, I acquire more about wordPerfect from one hand, and about HAL from the other. I realized then the possibility to enable HAL to recognize non-built in applications such as Quick basic! The wonderful programming language under DOS.

Thus, I started the real world of computer technology at the time where my needs to convert the EText readable by machines into braille to be printed out was coming up. The Duxbury application did most work, but no Arabic text could be printed out. Hence, I started my first programmatic goal to design a new application that converts the MSDOS text file into braille formatted text so that it could be printed out. The Computer Assessted Braille program version 4.5 was soon announced when I went to the demonstration center for the rehabilitation of the blind to print some converted files of mine. The officer of such service their was greatly surprized and introduced me to his administrator as the first designer of such application. Soon the institution bought a unique copy of the product, and they still use it. Reinforcement leads to great pushes in one's life. I came back to Duxbury to analyze its components, designers did most of what they can do under the DOS environment. I decided to go on updating CAB4.5 functions as Duxbury and more. I started by inserting the function of designing a cover, and another function or actually engine to deal with the Arabic Braille abbreviations and tables. But my awareness of Windows disabled me to go on that project, I heard about HAL95 and the ability to use Windows.

In the summer of 1998, I took the challenge to study the course of Windows95 without the help of a screen reader just to know the basis of Windows, unexpectedly, I acquired the whole course and got excellent. I started developping a Text Decoder using the quick basic programming language, the small application that became a great project in data security later on. I was invited to attend the October Achievements fair where I met mr. president Husny Mubarak. Thus, I entered the field of data security and remained working and studying it for a certain period of my life. In the summer of 1999, I decided to renew the chalenge so I joined the course of MSWord97 in the ISSR with the same circumstances where no screen reader is available. Again, I got excellent. At that time, I was asked to sell a copy of CAB4.5 to the school of Alnoor and AlAmal for blind girls and gratefully I did.
Translation was another field I was introduced to as an English language student. Suddenly, I found myself thinking and reading a lot about Machine Translation. New ideas stuck my mind as far as I read.
In July 1999, I got a demonstration version of the Jaws screen reading software. The most popular and accessible software all over the world. Soon I started my self-teaching course of Jaws. Then I realized the up-to-date technology of writing Jaws scripts.
In September 2001 I was recommended to be among the first group to be trained at Sakhr Reading Machine Sollution with its four major classes: the Document reader, the Screen reader, the internet reader, and the E-mail reader and I got excellent in their final exam.

The other face of my life a student in the department was highly charged linguistically. I discovered that I prefer linguistics rather than literature, but still many contradictions are there in my life! I composed 5 masterpieces, as being described, although I believe that I'm just a poetry maker!

  1. My dear friend: published in The Muse April 1999.
  2. The third way: published in The Muse March 2000.
  3. Beyond digital heart: announced in the final celebration april 26, 2000.
  4. Dream update: win the golden poetry prize May 2000.
  5. Falling back on the shaddows of the past: win the prize of the best bilingual poem in the history of the English department.

But still linguistics is my fruit of the department, so I passed the pre-ma and diploma in applied linguistics in 2001 - 2002 with very good.

In June 2000, I was invited to the conference of discussing the assesstive technology and its importance to the people with disabilities in Egypt, I attended the conference that was held in the hotel of Marchelle AlGezeera in AlMansoora in behalf of Alnoor society for the blind.
In October 2000 I gave a hand in the conference of will and chalenge held in the premises of students rehabilitation.
In November 2000 I was charged to recommend some volunteers to attend with me in the general administration for people with disabilities in the ministry of education to discuss, for the first time, the project of a computer lab for every school for the blind all over the country. This project is funded from the international Bank, consultants from the technological development and the educational computer department appreciated the project and went on applying it.
In June 2001, I was charged to share in the same project as the accessible technology specialist and as the representative of the blind center, Faculty of Computer and Information that's to demonstrate my computational and linguistic report about Sakhr Reading Machine sollution and to recommend the most appropriate technologies in designing such a big project.
In this respect, I thank the chief of the general administration for people with disabilities in the ministry of education as he gave me the full freedom to invite those who gain my respect in the field of linguistics or computer.
In december 2003, I attended the opening session of the computer department for the blind in the Christian society for Young Ladies.

Meanwhile, I was assigned to many jobs: in the summer of 1999 I worked part time as a computer specialist trainer in the demonstration center for the rehabilitation of the blind, I worked there almost four years. In March 2001, I was assigned as a computer trainer specialist in the blind center, faculty of computer and information, Cairo university. In 2002:2003 I worked as a part time in the society of Shams ElBer as a computer trainer and an English teacher. In 2004 I worked as an English, mathematics and computer teacher in Mostafa Asaker model school for blind girls.
As I come up in the field of computer technology, I got many self-teaching courses in the field of genetic algorithm, web designing, database structure and system analysis.
