We started the STARS Ham Radio club in August of 2007. Many of the STARS members are involved with other organizations that support the community such as Seaside CERT, Seaside TAG (Tsunami Advisory Group), Volunteer Firemen, Hospital Workers, School Teachers, and other community service organizations. We encourage Ham Radio as a family hobby and also as a family preparedness tool. We encourage the youth of the community to get involved in Ham Radio both for fun and Emergency Communications for their family, Schools, and their community. We teach Ham Radio Classes every couple of months at Clatsop community College's Seaside Oregon Campus. The Ham Radio Class Instructors are Roxann AB7HO, Jeff AB7DN, Hal WA7FIV, and Mike KA7SGB. We have licensed people in the area from ages 11 to 85. We have licensed almost as many women as we have men. We teach Classes for the Technician and General Licenses. Our Contact VE (Volunteer Examiner) for the VE Team is Roxann AB7HO. She has quite a few VE's available to her. Depending on the amount of Students in any given class is the deciding factor on how many VE's are contracted by Roxann and asked to help out in any given VE session.
