Parma Radio Club

Since 1948

…. a great group of amateurs dedicated to on-air operation, continuing education, equipment design, construction and maintenance, public service, personal growth and just plain fun.

One the oldest amateur radio organizations in the area, the PRC has a proud history of public service, assisting the Red Cross, as well as other organizations with emergency communications. The PRC was the first club to operate a ham station aboard the U.S.S. Cod, the historic submarine permanently docked in Cleveland. In addition, the PRC has operated amateur radio stations at the Brecksville and Wade Park VA Hospitals, providing veterans with enjoyment and relaxation.

For many years PRC members have annually participated in the American Radio Relay League’s Annual Field Day, operating on emergency electric generators in parks or other outdoor locations. Often the members operate  two or more stations.  Field Day is a highlight event --.a fun activity that affords participants the opportunity to meet and compete with other hams who are also honing their skills at radio gear emergency setup and operation. Not to overlook the thrill of outdoor cooking, camping, and sleeping under the stars for those who are inclined.  Although many members just visit for a few fun operating hours.

If you would like to learn more about any of the myriad facets of our great hobby, or just spend time with people with like interests… and if you believe, as we do, that amateur radio is a unique and wonderful hobby to be shared, why not bring a friend or spouse to a PRC meeting. We have programs of interest and ALL are welcome.

The PRC offers members numerous growth opportunities, not only in knowledge of our hobby, but also in fellowship, long term friendships and, should you choose to accept a rewarding challenge, executive leadership roles.
