- Don't use more then 3 colours in your layout.
- Make an poll to find what members want from your petsite.
- Update at least once a week.
- Make sure you have games as soon as possible.
- Make sure visitors will be interested in staying.
- Don't clog up your site so there are links everywhere. (Make it neat)
- Sticking to an art style is very important, too many different styles can cause an uncomfortable community, so it's best to practice at what you got untill you feel it's good enough to add to your petsite so users can feel more at ease with your art style.
- Making it hard to navigate around the site can cause some users to feel it's not worth putting up with, make sure it's easy and/or fun to navigate to keep users from getting uninterested or bored from navigating.
- Much like the art style, bad grammar can irritate your users, and bug them enough to complain or even quit your petsite, make sure you double or even triple check your work for any misspellings.
- Banning or messing with a users profile can cause users to become untrustworthy of you, and will most likely scare them off.
- Making a clean layout can be hard work but surely worthwhile, for the first appearance is everything, attracting users with a fun layout can attract certain audiences, the main one you want would either be children or teenagers, for they are the most likely to visit petsites.
- Do not, under any circumstance, act like a 7 year old. Example: welcome to the news! today i added like, a 100 games!!! They are so awesome, you'll be able to buy almost ANYTHING!!!11!! ROFLOLZ!!!
- Post on other sites other than the v-petsite forums.
- Be as creative as possible.
- Try to make lots of original VPcodes.
- Ask on the community is you have any problems.
- Don’t use an animated background.
- Best backgrounds to use are the ones with stripes.
- Make your layout as original as you can.
- Don’t put lots of bad quality items/pets, make fewer but high quality.
- Be active and frendly with the members of you petsite. They are very important.
- Have a cool layout with a cool homepage. Don't forget! The first impression counts.
- Don't forget to ad a forum or a chat. Nobody want's to play a game where you can't talk to find other things about site and have some help.
- Be a friendly admin. Give a welcome message to people who are new and always go to the chatroom and forum to talk with them.
- Update a lot! People want's a site with life and always bring new stuff, not a dead site.
- Register your site in a topsite. Lot's of people go on topsite by voting, and maybe they see your site they will click and register. You better put the voting code. If people see that you have lots of votes they will think that it's a cool site!
- Be an active member on the forum and put your site in your signature for advertisement.
- Tell your friends about your vPetsite, and maybe they will come and bring other friends.
- Have lots of contests and cool activities.
- Be an affiliate with another vPetsite. You can help each other.
