Volcanoes

Eruptions

We all know what an eruption is, but what comes out of a volcano during an eruption?

Lava

Lava is magma (molten rock) from the Earth's mantle that has been exposed surface of the Earth. When it breaks out of the volcano, it is classified as lava. Although it is dangerous and can exceed 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, it is very slow and can easily be outrun.

Ash

Ash is tiny particulate of rock and burnt material that floats into the sky when an eruption goes off. It stays in the sky for days and can even block out the sun in some places.

Pyroclastic Flow

This effect is more dangerous than lava. It is the fast movement of burning ash that is about 400 to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit and can travel up to 50 miles per hour, and literally destroys everything in it's path, any living thing, flora or fauna will be destroyed.
