Biodegradable Diapers
---------------------

READ MORE: Gadgets: Household

nappies.gifNo poop jokes. This is a completely serious matter: the
fecal receptacles that infants, the elderly, and fetish participants
wear are taking too long to biodegrade in landfills. Inventor and
diaper connoisseur Charishma Seneviratne has created a new diaper that
will allow you to rest easy at night. This new 100% biodegradable
diaper will decompose in only six months! Poop away friends. Thanks to
this, the environment won’t suffer because of my disgusting fetishes.

NicoShot: Beer with Nicotine
----------------------------

READ MORE: Gadgets: Household

smoking-cigarette-and-beer-in-pint-glass-AJHD.jpgNow this is just
excellent. A German brewer has created a frosty lager for smoking
cessation. Each can contains 6.3 percent alcohol by volume and
drinking three cans of the stuff, called NicoShot, is equivalent to
smoking a pack of cigarettes. I think the implications are obvious:
smoking makes you skinny and beer makes you fat. So if you add the two
together, you get to your ideal weight. [Thanks, Chuck!]

Glowing Hansa Sinks

A sink is a sink, but not when it has LEDs. Then it’s a Super Sink.
This Hansa tap has LEDs that light up in response to the water
temperature. Blue is for cold, red is for hot, and white is for
plasma. The image shows them looking like blood and toilet water,
respectively, but I suppose this sort of LED water UI can help those
with no nerve endings in their hands.

Kwiktop Bottle Lock
-------------------

READ MORE: Gadgets: Household

kwiktop.jpgWorking from home has its perks—quality time with the dog,
face time with the UPS guy, and the ability to go on a constant and
violent bender. Well, now I can be saved from my own demons thanks to
the Kwiktop bottle lock.

This device is a combination lock for booze and other sundries and
they are made for either plastic or glass bottles. It’s not for sale
yet, apparently, so I guess I’ll take another drink of toner.

Wolfgang Puck Self-Heating Can Dissected
----------------------------------------

READ MORE: Gadgets: Household

puck.jpgIt’s like a Bill Nye campfire! Make Magazine rips apart a can
of Wolfgang Puck auto-heating coffee to see what makes it magically
heat up.

In short, Make has discovered that a combination of calcium oxide
powder and water heats a can of over-priced espresso to 145 degrees in
six minutes. Once ‘activated’ a small container of water drips into a
big vat of calcium oxide creating an exothermic chemical reaction in
the bottom of the container, heating the canned beverage above. Don’t
deny it, you trendy espresso drinker, science is cool!

Chocolate Sushi

READ MORE: Gadgets: Household

sushi_r1_c1.jpgA quickie before we get to the real news of the day,
MacWorld Boston which is starting AS WE SPEAK OMG and to which we’re
sending our roving Computer Genius Editor, Will, whose
hard-hitting-news-gathering-skills are second only to his
burping-the-Louie-Louie-skills.

This is not sushi. It is chocolate. Those “roe eggs” on top are make
of gummy apricot dots and the seaweed wrapper is made of dark
chocolate. They have a full cavalcade of these fish/chocolate
mutations including green tea wasabi and choco-shrimp. [Thanks, Mark]

UPDATE - An unsolicited review by reader

I bought some Kooki Sushi for my fiancee for Valentines and I must
say that it is crap. It is a work of art, but they just taste like
plain sugar, and therefore a rip off. You can go ahead and make a
$100 mistake like I did, but Kooki Sushi makes girls cry when they
eventually throw it out uneaten.

Philips Bodygroom

kiwis.gifI literally don’t care what this product is. It could cure
world hunger, for all I care. The fear engendered by these running
kiwis and their resemblance to tender parts of the male anatomy is
quite enough for me, thank you.

See-through Potty
-----------------

READ MORE: Gadgets: Household

babywunder_clear_potty.jpgYou know! For kids!

Listen, I’m all for toilet training and all that good stuff, but does
junior really want to see his lumpkins in a big pile at the bottom of
a lucite bucket? Absolutely.

This thing, called the Baby Wunder, costs $20 and I’m not quite sure
what the value is. Maybe when I have my own pooping demons I’ll figure
it out.

Daiquiri Whacker

READ MORE: Gadgets: Household

daiquiri-whacker.jpgIt’s all rainy here and the dog doesn’t want to go
out. But if it were actually sunny in New York, I would just set one
of these up and drink one of my famous straight tequila daiquiris sans
mixer, fruit, ice, or straw. It’s actually a simple recipe: buy a
bottle of Cuervo and drink it.

Now, if you prefer to have “stuff” in your drinks, this is what you
need. This gas-powered mixer can burn through delicious fruit
concoctions like a freshman at a frat party and it even has a
motorcycle-esque grip control.

Mr. Suicide Bathtub Plug

Mrsuicide.jpgThis is a bathtub plug with a little floating fob in the
shape of a man—the aforementioned Mr. Suicide. What is the cultural
significance of such a delightful little reminder of our own morality?
I don’t know. However, he looks big enough not to get lost when you’re
washing the boys or girls.

Senor Suicide, as he is known in Spain, is available for $25 from
YankoDesign.

Talking Wine Label

winexr.jpgThe last time a bottle of booze talked to me I was in
college and we were trying to make grain punch. Now, however, you
don’t need to be drunk to hear your wine. Italian printer Modulgraf
has created a system for embedding chips into paper labels that can be
read with handheld devices. Based on RFID, the system allows buyers to
listen to information about the wine and even hear a bit of music
afore their tipple.

ColdHeat Pro Soldering Tool
---------------------------

READ MORE: Gadgets: Household

product-pro.jpg
I loved the first ColdHeat tool when it first came out and this new
version looks nice and beefy. I used to solder stuff quite a bit as a
young lad, using my father’s old wood-burning kit to melt beads of
metal into my skin. I never really knew what the hell I was doing, so
I usually just ended up with a bunch of hot, melted junk that smelled
bad. ColdHeat kind of let me solder without the risk of killing
myself, which was nice.

The ColdHeat Pro uses one batteryfive batteries, heats up instantly,
and cools down almost as instantly. When you touch the tip to metal it
completes a circuit and starts to melt whatever its touching. Pull it
away and the tip cools down. There’s even a handy little LED at the
end so you can see what you’re doing.
