Hong Kong

Hong Kong consists of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories. The Kowloon Peninsula is attached to the New Territories in the north, and the New Territories are in turn connected to mainland China across the Sham Chun River (Shenzhen River). In total, Hong Kong has 236 islands in the South China Sea, of which Lantau is the largest. Hong Kong Island itself is the second largest and also the most populated. Ap Lei Chau is the most densely populated island in the world.

Hong Kong is on the eastern side of the Pearl River Delta on the southeastern coast of China, facing the South China Sea in the south, and bordering Guangdong Province in the north. It has one of the world's most liberal economies and is a major international centre of finance and trade.

Hong Kong was a British colony from 1842, until its sovereignty was transferred to the  People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1997. As a special administrative region, Hong Kong is guaranteed by the Basic Law to have a relatively high degree of autonomy until at least 2047, fifty years after the transfer of sovereignty. Under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, it retains its own legal system, currency, customs policy, cultural delegation, international sport teams, and immigration laws.

Foursquare in Hong Kong

Foursquare was founded in Hong Kong in 1936 by Edwin Lee. The churches of Foursquare Hong Kong have long focused on evangelistic outreach through education and social services, through such opportunities as educating and ministering to students at [Robert] Semple Memorial High School and the blue-collar industrial workers that have migrated from Mainland China.

The Foursquare Church in Hong Kong is showing growth, with ministers from the Philippines, Nigeria and the United States working alongside of their Cantonese-speaking brothers and sisters in love and unity.

How Are We Reaching 'The World' In Hong Kong?

We are praying and seeking for 100 church planters in Hong Kong to start churches here in the next five years (Consider being a part of our church planting teams!).  Hong Kong has become the forgotten city in today's 'spiritual economy.'  Only 3 percent of Hong Kong's residents attend any kind of religious service and only 1 percent can be considered believers in Jesus Christ.

Hong Kong is known as the 'jumping off place' to ministry in mainland China. It has been left to little Christian leadership, influence, or ministry.  We are seeking to re-seed Christian workers in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a multicultural, multinational center, to reach people in Hong Kong is to influence the world!
