About us

We are Martijn Wiese and Martine Harm and we live in Bloemendaal, a small village in Noord-Holland near Haarlem.  I (Martine) have been crazy about Ridgebacks for over 14 years now. Ever since I  met a couple of them when I was just 12 years old, I knew a Ridgeback would one day be part of my life. After reading a lot about the breed,  we decided  it was time to look for a responsible breeder. We went to meet Mariette en Rens of Vizara Rhodesian Ridgebacks and we knew immediately that we had come to the right place. Their dogs really appealed to us both in character aswell as type. And their great experience, knowledge and love for the breed convinced us to definitively wait for a puppy of their upcoming litter. We have waited more than 6 months for the birth of the pups of Vizara Glenara x Je Yapha Ben Shemen of Vizara. And it was worth it! With Ijaba we started to participate in dogshows and she does very well. She quickly acquired the titles Dutch Youth Champion, Amsterdam Youth Winster 06, International champion, Dutch Champion and Belgian Champion. Ijaba is everything could have wished for, she is very special, and we are so grateful to Rens & Mariette (Vizara RR) for giving us such a precious girl! In the beginning of 2009 Ijaba's daughter Chikumbi joined our pack and she really brings a lot of energy and happiness to the family ;-)

Working with animals and more specifically becoming a veterinarian has always been my dream, unfortunately that dream was shattered when I was not allowed at university because of the stupid (!) dutch lottery system. After that I studied Management, Communication and Organisation at the Free University of Amsterdam, but when I was finished I realized that it wasn't my "thing" and I still wanted to work with animals! Few years ago I started my own company Kyno Connect which specializes in (problem) dogbehaviour and training.
 

Breeding

Our goal is not to simply bring more puppies into this world but we hope that we can make a contribution to our beloved breed. Our aim is to breed sound and healthy dogs, true to type and with a good, typical Ridgeback temperaments.

It is very important to us that the pups get the best start possible. The puppies will grow up in our house and livingroom and there will be a lot of time and effort put into socialising the pups. We are also keen on giving the new owners a lot of information about the breed and about caring for their precious new puppy. After you take your puppy home, our commitment doesn't end.We will always be available for whatever questions you might have.

Ofcourse all puppies will be vaccinated, dewormed, chipped and checked by the Dutch Rhodesian Ridgeback Club and will go to their new homes with a pedigree, and a special "puppybook" with all the information about the litter, photo's and practical information about feeding, healthcare and training/raising your puppy.

It is of great importance to us that our puppies go to very good homes, with people who understand the breed and their specific needs. That is why we like to meet our
" future puppy-owners" before the puppies are born, so they can spend some time with our dogs and we can answer all the questions about the breed etc.
