Revamped!

Yes, I have finally decided to change this website up a bit after I found that I could google myself. >_>

So what's been up with me? Well, after getting my poetic license revoked (by a certain poetry.com) I have been building up a grand list of new poems as well as working on my narrative memoir Got Rice. So, I plan to post all my new pieces sooner or later!

I am also thinking about creating a poetry book of most of the poems you'll find here.

About Me

My name is Vivienne Chen, and I am poet/writer. This site is for my poetry. You won't be able to find any of my longer works here, for they are too typo-ridden to be shamelessly publicized. I like to think of writing as a way to reach out to people, not just a selfish indulgence of one's own passion.

Regarding my background, I live in California, USA. I attend Amador Valley High School, with English, History and Colorguard being my favorite subjects. I've taken writing tutoring, which was more like having a personal editor than anything else. I'm working on publishing a novella "Got Rice?" which summary can be found here.

Some of my writing influences (though not all of them; a writer's got to keep some secret sources) include George Orwell, Joanne Rowling, Scott Westerfeld, Kenneth Oppel, and Ray Bradbury. My poetic influences include Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allen Poe and Jacques Prevert.
