I would like to correct a statement that was on the timeline page of this site:
'It is thought that Vivian had acquired the restaurant “Park Ten” by this time. It was located at 10 Park Avenue, a very nice address in Manhattan"
On 30 July 2005 I received the following e-mail which corrects this statement.
"I was reading your profile and bio on Vivian and noted that you mention that she owned her own restaurant UK SHOP which is NOT accurate.
My partner UK LONDON SHOP and myself, created, designed, built and owned the PARK TEN from its inception in April 1981 through its sale (closing) in August of 1988.
I had this bright idea to attach a 'name' to the restaurant because I had always thought that a 'Texax Guinan' hostess would be fun, exciting and very press worthy. Since Vivian and Stuart had been customers I approached Vivian (in December 1983) with the idea and we attempted to pursue it. Within days of our agreement, Vivian was signed to do one episode of Murder She Wrote, (in the first season) and she and I went to the coast (for 3 1/2 weeks) while she rehearsed and filmed the episode. Because of major conflicts, Stuart had already been banned from the restaurant and prior to our trip to the coast, Vivian had been living with us. After the trip back, it was mutually agreed that her association with our restuarant (because of Stuart), would not work and we parted ways. The PARK TEN then went on to become a 'major name' supper club by employing Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney, Sylvia Syms, Tony Martin and many more supper club performers, and had a good run for another four years.
Vivian's association with the PARK TEN, never came to fruition, and she never hosted, nor did she ever perform in the club.
She was a great friend, performer and personality. But for her then husband and his 'problems' I believe that Vivian would have had a long association with us.
I would appreciate it if you would correct your information on Vivian and remove the name 'owner', since she was not the owner, ever, and with the above exception had nothing to do with the PARK TEN, except as a customer.
Thank you.
Bob Estey
P.S. I still have several dozen ashtrays, that were logo'd and never ever used since the association never became a reality....LOL...my mistake..."
This information has since been removed from the site, & I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to Bob Estey & Thorne Cooper the rightful owners of the PARK TEN resturant in question. It was their hard work & not Vivian's that made PARK TEN the success that it was. BFS had no intention of distorting the facts or taking the credit away from those who deserve it. Also I would like to thank Bob Estey for drawing my attention to this mistake
