Shaemus

17/6/98 - 21/4/04

He was a character in himself and I really miss him, so do his friends. It was the hardest descison I have ever had to make in my life and it hurt so badly. He was robbed of life by a very malignant tumour which unfortunalety could not be operated on due to the location. I was not going to let him suffer and keep him going for my sake, this would have not been fair and I owed it to him to let him go with degnitty.

Shaemus was hard work at the beggining and he was fightened off his own shadow but with determination and hard work we made it through. It was Shaemus that got me into the ring and enjoying the working side of a gundog too, he also got me interested in dog behaviour.

His character was very cheeky he was always smiling and he would tuck his lip up as if he was laughing. On Sundays we would go to Grandmas for dinner and he always pawed the cooker door because he knew Grandad had saved him some roast!

Out in the field he was a real hunter he taught me about wind direction! He would cast out in front and you knew when he had scent of a bird his tail would wag and then when he came on point it was a picture. Waiting for the command he would go in and flush the bird, drop to shot and then be off again. He could out do the vizslas any day, but to be fair he had twice the length of legs so could easily cover the ground.

Jess

11/3/91-8/9/07

Jess at just over 14yrs

Jess was a very pretty girl and a typical Border Collie she was the top dog! At sixteen and half she had a great life and never really ailed anything. Unfortunatley old age caught up with her and her kidneys started to fail and she became weak on her backend, along with her been partially sighted. It broke my heart to say goodbye and make that dreaded descision. Now she can keep an eye on Shaemus and make sure he's not getting up to his usual mischeif!

God bless you Jess, I miss you loads xxx

If It Should Be

If should be that I grow frail and weak

and pain should keep me from my sleep

then, you must do what must be done

for this last battle can't be won

You will be sad, I understand

Don't let your grief then stay your hand

for this day, more than all the rest

your love and friendship stand the test

We've had so many happy years

what is to come can hold no fears

would you want me to suffer, so

when the time comes, please let me go

Take me where my needs they'll tend

and stay with me until the end

and hold me firm and speak to me

until my eyes no longer see

I know in time that you will see

it is a kindness that you do for me

do not grieve, it should be you

who must decide this thing to do

we've been so close we two these years

don't let your heart hold any tears.
