House fire - Proved to be a chip pan involved, 2 Breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventilation fan used to clear the smoke.  Female occupier suffered smoke inhalation and was given oxygen by Fire service but did not attend hospital. Smoke detectors fitted but not working.

House fire - Proved to be a bedroom 100 per cent involved in fire. Crews used 1 Large jet, 2 Hosereel jets and 4 Breathing apparatus. 1 male occupant suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by ambulance crews, but did not go to hospital. Crews also had to check a neighbouring property to check fire had not spread into that property.

Flat Fire Persons Reported - Proved to be on arrival a fire alarm which had actuated due to cooking fumes, 1 elderly female suffered the effects of inhaling the fumes and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Smoke detectors fitted and working.

House fire - Proved to be a bedroom involved, crews used 1 Hosereel jet and 4 Breathing apparatus. 1 male in late 40s was rescued by fire service personnel and taken to hospital by ambulance. There were no smoke detectors in the property.

Animal Rescue - Proved to be cat up a tree approx 130Ft from the ground. Crews cut branches using Aerial Ladder Platform to reach the cat which finally was coaxed down by firefighters

26/01/10 19:00 - Great Russell Street update
Rapid response to
Bradford furniture manufacturer fire.
West Yorkshire fire and rescue service were called to a bedding manufacturer, 2 storey building fire on Great Russell Street, Listerhills, Bradford on 26th January at 16:46.
The rapid response of 12 firefighting appliances and over 60 firefighters from Bradford and Leeds district including  an aerial appliance and the command unit along with the aggressive firefighting tactics used have resulted in reduced property damage and a swift conclusion to this large building fire.

Smoke detection was fitted but did not actuate.

Water Rescue Incident - Proved to be reports of a male in the canal, on arrival 1 male was found to be stuck in the mud in the canal, this was after going in to rescue his dog, 1 male was extricated by fire service personnel, both dog and owner are fine but rather muddy, the male was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance for a precautionary check up.

Flat Fire - Proved to be fire on 3rd floor landing of block of flats, crews used 1 Hosereel jet, 2 breathing apparatus and a Positive pressure ventilation van, 2 elderly female occupants suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to hospital by ambulance. No smoke detection was fitted.

Fire service administered oxygen therapy and ambulance attended but she did not go to hospital. Smoke detectors were fitted in the property and did actuate.

House fire - Proved to be bedroom involved in fire, crews used 1 Hosereel jet, 2 Breathing apparatus and a Positive pressure ventilation fan to clear house of smoke. 1 adult female suffered burns to face and smoke inhalation and 1 female child suffered smoke inhalation, both were transported to Pontefract General by ambulance. Smoke detectors were fitted in the property and they did actuate.

Casualty suffering smoke inhalation and slight burns to feet.  He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance.  No smoke detectors were fitted.

Flat Fire - Proved to be a microwave involved, the fire was out on arrival of the fire service, flat ventilated using Positive Pressure Ventilation fan to disperse the smoke, 1 female occupier suffered smoke inhalation, she was given oxygen by the fire service then taken to St James by ambulance. Smoke detectors where fitted and working.

Building Fire MP x 8 and Aerials x 2 - Proved to be a 3 storey mill building approx 20m x 30m used as rag merchants. Building100% involved in fire on arrival and numerous calls received to incident. Crews used 6 Large jets and 2 Ground monitors. Structural engineers attended and due to unsafe nature of the building following the fire, partial demolition has taken place.

Large Animal Rescue - This was a horse that had fallen through the ice into Wintersett Reservoir.  Horse rescued from the water by Fire Service personnel and brought to safety.

Road Traffic Collision - Proved to be a 2 car collision, 4 people trapped in the wreckage of one vehicle and cut free by firefighters and taken by Ambulance to Bradford Royal Infirmary.

House Fire - Proved to be chip pan out on arrival,  female occupier and four children (ages 13,9,3 and 2) taken to hospital by Ambulance for a Appliances from Pontefract(9001), Knottingley (8601) and Castleford (8201) attended. Smoke detectors were fitted but not working. Fire crews carried out an exercise known as a hot strike in the area, this is a free service where fire crews fit smoke detectors and carry out checks of the affected property and nearby homes to ensure that residents have the appropriate means of escape and fire detection to ensure their safety.

Animal Rescue - Proved to be a dog in the canal. Specialist water rescue crew used a reach pole to rescue the dog and reunite the dog with its owner. Water rescue crews did not have to enter the water.

Animal Rescue - Proved to be 2 dogs on the ice in the river. 1 was coaxed out without any assistance and the second dog rescued by water rescue crew using a short extension ladder. Both dogs were reunited with their owner.
Appliances from Ilkley (4501) and Bingley (4101WR) attended with a specialist Technical Rescue officer.

Animal Rescue -  Proved to be a dog fallen through the ice on the lake. Water rescue pole used to locate the dog under the ice, unfortunately the dog did  not survive.

Lower Mickletown, Methley.
Large Animal Rescue - Proved to be 2 horses stuck in a pond. 2 water rescue personnel on a rescue sled broke the ice to make a pathway for the horses. Second  water rescue team was requested to attend for safety. Water rescue crew led 1 horse to safety through the broken ice.The second horse required pulling from the ice requiring water rescue crew to enter the water. Both horses were left in the care of the owner and the vet.
