Welcome to Sedalia...

The official site for Sedalia, Missouri vacation, tour, meeting & tourist information.

Founded in 1860, Sedalia began as a rough frontier town in the new west.

The Historic District features Missouri's first Carnegie Library, antique shops and quaint stores. Seven miles out of town an authentic Missouri "castle", Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site sits atop a 120 foot bluff which offers tours daily.

Sedalia was built because the railroad was headed in that direction.  Today hikers and bicyclists travel a 225 mile rail to trail conversion.  The Katy Trail State Park winds through town to the Katy Depot trailhead where the visitors are able to shop for souvenirs of their adventure. Visit Sedalia by train, the River Runner travels daily from Kansas City to St. Louis.

Whiteman Air Force Base, home of the B-2 Bomber is located only 15 minutes out of Sedalia. The base is named for Sedalia's hero George Whiteman.

The Missouri State Fairgrounds and its 396 acres of exhibit areas, 2,200-site campground and historic facilities have become one of the hallmarks of Sedalia. Besides offering one of the largest ten day fairs in America, the Fairgrounds also hosts livestock shows, camping events, sporting events, horse and car races and truck pulls throughout the year.

Celebrate the birth of ragtime with us at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival or experience Native American Culture at the Missouri State Pow Wow.
