News from the Author:

Happy New Year!

I have in recent months received a few queries regarding a certain character in "The Rogue Investigations."

I would like to set the record straight. Zachary McCain is not so named after Senator John McCain. I created the character of Zach McCain in 1994, before I was even consciously aware of who John McCain was. The last name McCain actually comes from some of the ancestors on my father's side, which may mean I am a distant cousin of the aforementioned Senator, but Zachary McCain is no relation to that man.

The name was not intended to be political.

The story that spurred this limited controversy is available at Amazon.com as a digital download. Read the first chapter in "The Rogue Investigations" before I complete the full book.

Old News 9/29/08

Just a few words:

It has been almost a year now, since I shifted my attention to www.martiningham.com, and much has happened in that time.  The sequel to Virtual Wiles, "Prisoner of Time," is complete, and I have begun work on several other novels, one of which is the sequel to the sequel!  At present, the Virtual Saga is slated to comprise at least 4 volumes.  The third book, "The Guns of Mars," is currently in production, and I have already thrown down several chapters for a 4th novel in the series, which holds the tentative title "What Would It Benefit the World?"  That title is long and not very appealing, in my mind, so I will seek to change it.

This spring, I unsuccessfully ran for political office, though I suppose it's all for the best.  Since I won't be going down to Augusta and fighting with a bunch of bureaucrats, I'll have time to continue writing.

As of late, I have taken to antique watch repair.  I am still in the preliminary stages of training, but I find that working on mechanical watches is a rewarding task.  It used to be people would buy a watch to last them a lifetime, and pass it on to their children.  Now, we go to the store and buy a cheap piece of crap made in china for $10, and throw it away when the battery dies.  I believe in things that last.

If you haven't read Virtual Wiles yet, be sure to find a copy.  Ask your local library to get a copy, or buy a copy for yourself using the various sites and stores listed here on the website.  You will not be disappointed.

Previous Update (8/25/07)

My Latest Novel:

My 5th completed Science Fiction novel has now been polished to near-perfection.  "The World So Desired" is currently on the market, seeking a publisher.  This thriller, which has held the previous titles of "The Star Slavers" and "Nester's Redemption," was written last winter, and is filled with action, adventure, and political intrigue.  It looks at the dark side of inter-stellar conquest, and has a couple of humans caught in the middle of an epic struggle between two alien races.

I hope to find a publisher for this quality work in the not-so-distant future, and will keep you up to date on its production progress.

Virtual Wiles Available In Japan:

I was quite surprised and thrilled to learn that Virtual Wiles is now available in Japan.  I'm not sure how many Japanese bookstores are stocking it, or how many individuals are reading my work over there, but it is most definitely an honor to have my book available to the Japanese people.

Japanese customers may order the book via the following website:
http://bookweb.kinokuniya.co.jp/guest/cgi-bin/booksea.cgi?ISBN=1424178770

Use the Guestbook:

A lot of visitors are coming to the Virtual Wiles website, but so few are signing the Guestbook as of late.  The Guestbook is not the place for a long, drawn-out conversation, so don't feel reluctant to sign if you don't have much to say.  It's just a place to say "Hi, I was here."  Enjoy your visits, regardless.

Old News (7/10/07):

Prisoner Of Time:
I'm pleased to say that I've had the chance to work on the sequel to Virtual Wiles.  "Prisoner of Time" now has 6 completed chapters.  I'm hoping to finish this sequel over the winter, and have it out to publishers next spring.

Excellent Feedback for Virtual Wiles:
Although no official reviews have been published for Virtual Wiles just yet, readers are giving me positive responses.  Friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers are all saying the same thing: "I can't wait to see what happens on the next page."  It is good to hear that readers of Virtual Wiles are not being disappointed!

A Short Story Worth Your Time:
An old short story of mine is now free to read at Author's Den:
http://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewshortstory.asp?AuthorID=59149&id=28190
"Sixth Planet" deals with a psychic who wishes to win the heart of his tutor by unlocking the secrets behind the formation of the asteroid belt in Earth's solar system.  This tale is fairly unique among my writings, wholly unlike my other shorts & novels.  I've been told it has "heart."  I suppose that's why it won 2nd prize in June of 2004 at dreampassage.com.

You can now read my interview with Authortrek:
http://www.authortrek.com/martin-t-ingham-interview.html
It's a "form" interview, with some fairly generic questions, but it's worth a look.

Check back for more future developments, and tell everyone you know to pick up a copy of Virtual Wiles!
