Welcome to Violet Vale, a small but peaceful place nestled in the North Georgia hills. To us quantity takes a back seat to quality. Our small herd of Saanen and grade Guernsey does receive the sort of care that is difficult to achieve with larger herds, and they thrive with the extra attention. Though the herd is small, the animals are very competitive. With a foundation of the best Saanen bloodlines available in the Southeast and careful attention to breeding and care, our animals stand out.
The Violet Vale herd began as a sub-herd of Pony Trail Farm. When I acquired an individual adult membership with the American Dairy Goat Association, I registered this herdname, and have used it for the past five years. Over the years I have used various bucks from different lines, but have narrowed down my herd to a particular line carrying exceptional quality that descends from the foundation animals of Pony Trail Farm and is heavily influenced by animals owned by Rock-Point Farms such as SG Willow Run VQ Claude Raines +*B and GCH Rock-Point Man After Midnite +*B. The Guernseys go back to these same Saanen lines through the use of one of my Saanen does in the breeding up process.
Herd health and proper nutrition are of utmost concern on this farm. The Herd Health page describes in detail the precautions we take to maintain a high level of quality. We guarantee that our animals are free from diseases such as Tuberculosis, Brucellosis, Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis, Caseous Lymphadenitis, and Scrapie.
To guarantee that you know what you are buying, we keep our does until they freshen. After freshening they are priced according to their current performance and their pedigree (what we expect them to become). You can see the pedigrees of each of our animals on the Saanen Does page. We will have a limited number of milkers available each year so will take orders with deposits in advance. Visit our sales page for more details on how to order a milker.
