Violet Faith:

Violet was born December 27, 2005 in Conroe, TX, and boy did she make a dramatic entrance into the world! When Violet was born she was unable to take a breath without "drowning" in her own fluids. The doctors immediately rushed her to the NICU where she was intibated. Soon we would learn that this precious hometown little girl was born with an extremely rare disorder, with no known cause, called Vacterl Association.

After Violet’s birth she was taken to TX Children's Hospital where she remained in level 4 ICU for 3 weeks. Violet’s first surgery was to connect her esophagus to her stomach. Violet's second surgery was to correct a spinal cord defect.

Violet also has a heart defect, a shortened radius in her arm and an anal defect.

In June Violet and her mother Melissa traveled to Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Ohio to have her colorectal surgery done to allow Violet to have better bowel control and a normal bowel tract.

However, Violet was not able to have that surgery because she went into respiratory distress on the OR table and had to be intubated and was put into the ICU for several days.

Violet and Melissa were sent home and told to get her airways evaluated before returning. They also ordered a sleep study. Come to find out violet has BOTH, central and obstructive sleep apnea (this is VERY rare). She also has Cynotic spells. If she crys too hard she will stop breathing and pass out. Again, she has the rare form where her heart will actually stop for a moment. Violet was evaluated in TX for her airways. Melissa was told her airway issues are so complicated that they needed to go back to Cincinnati to have her airways evaluated with the 1 airway Dr in the world.

On September 16Th, 07 Violet and Melissa went off to Cincinnati again. She had 2 MRI's on the 17Th, 2 scopes on the 18Th and Dr's appt's on the 19Th and 20Th.

They were supposed to check into the hospital on the 23rd and start bowel prep. to have the Colorectal surgery on the 24Th. However once again, Violet went into respiratory distress, and the Colorectal surgery was posponed.

Violet will be having Open Heart Surgery on September 25th, 2007 at 10 am (Cincinnati time), 2 procedures will be done at this time. One to repair the hole in her heart, and the other to connect her main artery to her breast plate. Violet's rectal surgery has been postponed until sometime next spring.

We are asking everyone we know for many prayers. We are hoping and praying that Violet goes through this with flying colors. I believe God is taking care of her all the way through : )
