WIP - OMG! Update!

Heyo guys, just to show you what I'm up too of late......

WIP_v1

It's a small WIP shot of my current animation. It's very rough at the moment. I suggest that the rest of the Violent Pacifst group upload stuff here to help kick start their creative juju and get moving. lol

Till next time

Site update

Well, it's been a while...
Still, got something....

It's a cover based off Ewen Campion-Clarke's rewrite of The Enemy Within. The first part is just brilliant, it's incredibly chilling and the relationship between the Doctor and Peri is just wonderfully touching.

Anyway, if you'd like to see more updates, please feel free to abuse me on the forums :D

Update - The Return, The failure, The New and some Sonic Youth

Hey guys, terribly sorry for the lack of updates.
I've just been settling down again after my UK trip. Eventually I'll be posting a recount of my time up there, however, if you're impatient there's always my girlfriend's account of what happened.

Anyway, it's pretty clear that I flat out failed my 30 day challenge that I had set out for myself. I really didn't pick the best time to be attempting it. However, it wasn't a total failure now that I look back on it. I have had a pretty fun time working on it, and It's also given me the oportunity to get off my arse and learn some new skills in drawing and web site maintaining. So while I may not have completed the task, it was certainly well worth it. I'll probably attempt it again later on in the year.

Now, I've finally added some new things to the site as I'm becoming a bit more familiar with the tools that I have at my disposal. (remember, I'm still learning with this whole website maintaining)

First thing: We've got Rhiannon Winchester's section of the website up and running, so she'll finally be able to start posting stuff up here. Rhiannon's no stranger to the Violent Pacifist team, she's been one of the core players since the very beginning so we're all excited having her here!

Second Thing: I've finally think I may have sorted out the forums now, there's now a subject there and I would be very grateful if you readers give it a try to test to see if it's working. Thanks once again for your patience guys :D

Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation 08 Australia Tour

Photobucket

Wow, what a show. I've really only recently gotten into Sonic Youth's music. While they have an incredibly unique sound, they're appeal to me is how they make their music. For those unfamiliar with Sonic Youth read this. So seeing them live and watching how they do it was amazing. Thankfully I got an incredible spot right infront of Lee's mic. I could watch all the tricks he pulled with his guitar. They did the most craziest things while playing, fiddle around with the tuning pegs of their guitars while playing to alter the sound, turn up the gain so that the slightest touch would create a pitch and then wildly bash the strings with drumsticks.
They also had the habit of standing infront of their amps causing mass amounts of feedback to splinter into your brain, it was one of the most intense experiences i've ever had.

The songs were incredibly diverse, at one moment the crowd is jumping up and down rocking out to one of their punk-like tracks and then the next minute they're standing silently entranced as the band members  allow their instruments to wail and screech into oblivion.

Without a doubt, Sonic Youth was the best gig I've ever been to in my life. I encourage you guys to go out there and look them up now!

UK trip update 01 (aka: How things suddenly fucked up)

Greetings all,

It is now 12:30am, Singapore time. And I'm pissed!

What started out as quite a pleasent trip has now decended into what I have feared the most.

Once the plane had landed and I had disembarked, I quickly began to locate what I was told "the Transit desk" I followed signs which directed me to transit but then suddenly the signs stopped. Where did they go? I spent 10 mins looking for this "Transit desk" when I eventually concluded that such a thing did not exist. I began to look for what could possibly look like someplace where I might be able to get back on a flight to London.

Because I'm traveling on a Staff pass, I have to wait to see if there are any vacent seats on the flight out to London. Before I left Aust, the numbers looked favourable. Yet what happens when I arrive at the newly discovered "Transfers Desk"?!? The flight is delayed by 20 mins, and there's chance I may not get on! and that I need to wait till 5 in the morning for the next flight. Come back at 11:45pm

At 12:15 she adresses me and several other passenges (who have been waiting worridly if they're gonna get on) telling us there's no room and that we need to return a 1pm THE NEXT DAY!!!!

What should have been a 1 and a half hr wait has now turned into a 14hr wait for a flight that will take 14hrs as well!

I am sooooooo pissed right now and I could tell Aimee was upset by the news, but not nearly as upset as she was to hear I'll be spending the night in the Airport ><

Well, must get going. Better find a bench to sleep on.

Day TwentyThree - Posting Days 13 to 18

Christ I'm behind! lol
Lets get started:
Photobucket
I was reading up about the great british TV comic Spike Milligan, and I think what best sums him up is what he had written on he's tombstone which reads as thus "I told you I was Ill"

Photobucket
No idea what this is again. Just a random sketch because I wished to practice my Mechanical drawing. Looks to be a loading bay of some sort.

The next series of sketches are a part of a Video Game that I was involved in making for Uni. Due to a lot of Technical difficulties and not being terribly pleased with the final product I have not posted the finished program online. God I hate actionscript!

Anyway, The project has not been totally scrapped. Because I really liked what we were coming up with. Especially having these cute little characters in a adult and peverse world. Like Conker's Bad Fur Day (which the team are immense fans of ), or Fritz the Cat.
Photobucket
Muffie - Main Character
Photobucket
Muffie relaxing......
Photobucket
The main boss battle involved defeating the Enemy with a series of awesome Guitar licks in a Guitar Hero style gameplay.
Photobucket
One of the idea's that was tossed about was the boss being a Meche/battle tank in the shape of a Penis and set of Bollocks.
Here's a slight redesign of what was in my mind, again it was an excuse to practice my mechanical drawing.

Eventually I shall be uploading more info about this game if anyone is interested.
Till next time,
-Chris

Day Fifteen - Posting days 11 and 12

Gday all!
More pics from he that does waste your time.
First up, just a silly little sketch of what I must have looked like when I was at the tender age of 5
Photobucket
Well.....Can't win them all

Next is just a random pic of the Tardis flying thru the time and space vortex.
Photobucket
It was very much inspired by the early 8th Doctor comics in DWM.

Hope you all had a brilliant New Year :D
-Chris 03-01-08

Day Fourteen - Cartoonists are filthy, Artists are gods

While practicing my figure drawing I got a thinking that we creative types do tend to allow ourselves to express our sexuality by drawing smut.
It can develop into either a full blown hardcore pic or just a harmless wink of an eye. But never the less it does come to the surface.
I'm not really going anywere with this, it's just me rambling on so you don't think I'm wierd for posting this thing. lol
Photobucket
Complaints go to here, to request the posting of more sketches like this go to here

Day Eleven - Posting days 8 and 9

Chris here,

Continuing to catch up, have a photo of a banner I've been working on for Violent Pacifist.
Photobucket
It's amazing what you can do with paper and a stick of glue >:D
*Edit* I've just noticed that the image is just a little bit too large for this layout, I'll come back to it soon*Edit*

Next, another Doctor Who digital painting. This time from the Tom Baker serial 'Planet of Evil'
Photobucket
This I feel is a brilliant story, I was so chuffed I got it for Christmas because it is incredibly creepy. The monster in this is just an orange outline of the costume which is just a brilliant move, it's nothing the audiance has encountered before and it is certainly not one we're likely to see again. If you're ever on the look out for a good Dr Who story, go for Planet of Evil :D

-Chris 30-12-07

Day Ten - Posting Days 5,6 and 7

Oh whoops,

Have fallen a bit behind due to Christmas blitz folks, sorry about that ^^;
Never the less, I intend to make up for it. I shall rush back to my quota.

First Pic:
Photobucket
Not so much a sketch, but it still counts damn it! I was about to put the paper into the recycling when I saw this pic, was too funny XD

Second Pic:
Photobucket
Random science fiction pic. With some handy Christmas cash I picked up a copy of The Grand Space Opera, a digital art book. So while looking thru all these images I was sort of inspired. I just started scribbling in photoshop and then this root like spacecraft/station came out. Anyone wish to give us a background story to this? Please send me a note on my DA page or E-mail me :D   Contact

Third Pic:
Photobucket
Speaking of Christmas, Merry Christmas every one ( all five of you) Yes I know this is a cop-out, but then I'm renowned for my cop-outs XD
Hope you all have had a very merry Christmas and have a safe new year.
Now I've just gotta rush off and finish 3 more pix ^^;

-Chris 29-12-07

Day Four - Where are we?

Something a bit different
Photobucket

Something different from the fan art I've recently been uploading. This was a quick sci-fi sketch. No idea what it's about, any suggestions?

Day Three - Always Play

Time for a new sketch!
Photobucket

Ever since I saw link, I couldn't help but think how cool it would be to see Mwibear rock out.
I also have this strange habit of playing out how certain characters would react in realistic circumstances.
For instance, after being rejected by Rid and Seth at the close of Always Play 01 Mwibear probably was quite upset at the idea of being abandoned and left to fend for himself that the only way to vent these feelings of frustration and anger is to join a punk cover band hence the lyrics of 'Bodies' thundering in the background.
Unfortunatly, as the group progresses in popularity many music critics lable the front man 'Mwibear' as somewhat of an Emo. This outrages him no end. This of course causes him to deny the idea with every fiber of his body.
So disillusioned is he by the current 'alternative' music scene, that he goes into middle management and there he lives out the rest of his days on a steady income.
For the future adventures of Seth and Rid however.......Well you'll just have to check out 'Always Play' won't you?
....
Now that I read that back, I truly realise how far I've fallen from grace....

-Chris 22/12/07

P.S.: Apologies now go to Wen Huang for bastardizing her characters ^^; Sorry dear.....

Day Two - The Tides of Time

Hey Peeps,

Just to prove that I'm still into this challenge that I've set myself, here's the second pic. Earlier in the week I managed to grab a copy of the Complete Fifth Doctor comicstrip, so that gave me the incentive to draw yet another Fifth Doctor pic.

Photobucket

Still getting use to quick sketching, but not too bad I reckon. Also, I managed to pick up a copy of these new reprints of the 'Classic' Doctor Who comics. They're just reprints of the old Marvel comics from the late 70's that have been released in volumes by Panini, except they've been painstakingly coloured.

The effort these guys have gone through to breath new life into these stories is incredible. They've done a remarkable job. Click here to check them out.
Til next time

Day One....and I'm already regretting it

Hey there one and all, finally I've managed to get off my fucking arse and done something about this web space. At the moment I've set my self a challenge which is call The Andrew Dickman 30 day Challenge This is a little activity where I draw and upload a sketch a day for the next month. This will hopefully improve my style and sketching and what not.

Photobucket

Here we've got the rather twisted creation of one Ewen Campion-Clark. A man who's talents of writing, I am not worthy to praise. Please, I emplore you, check out his writings now!
