NEW! IMPORTANT INFORMATION for FLOOD AREA RESIDENTS: Base Flood Elevations (BFEs) are the
Section 110 of the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973 (Public Law 93-234) is intended to ensure an equitable balancing of all the interests involved in the setting of BFEs/ The legislation provides for an explicit process of notification and appeals for the community and interested parties prior to FEMA finalizing the BFEs. The regulations developed by FEMA to implement Section 110 are found in Part 67 of Title 44 of the Code of Federal Regulations. If you would like to appeal or protest the BFEs, the document found here describes the process which local residents and businesses must follow in order to formally object to information presented on Preliminary Maps. It outlines the difference between “appeals” and “protests.”
The appeals period begins on Dec. 24, 2009 and ends by statute on March 23, 2010. It cannot be extended for any reason beyond that.

NEW! HEAP Grants: Do you need help with Winter Heating bills? You may be eligible for a Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) grant. HEAP is a federal program that provides financial assistance to eligible households and can be used to pay heating bills or for other energy-related emergencies. The HEAP season has officialy begun; you can visit here for more information or contact either the Madison or Chenango County Department of Social Services. You can find these under our links above. The income eligibility guidelines for HEAP are:

Leaf & Brush Pick-Up: Leaf and brush pick-up has ended for 2009. Please do not leave brush or bagged leaves curbside as they will not be collected. Any brush or leaves left curbside could constitute a roadway hazard and homeowners could be ticketed.
On Street Parking: Overnight On-Street Parking is prohibited between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Dec. 1, 2009 to April 15, 2009. Anyone in violation of this resolution will have their vehicle towed at the owner's expense.

Village Dump Info: The village dump is open for VILLAGE RESIDENTS ONLY to discard yard and green waste during the week. It is locked on the weekends and at night. It is open during the day and can be accessed at night and on the weekends by signing out the dump key from the village clerk during regular business hours.
