The Vibrons Rock and Roll Band

History of the Vibrons

A  brief history of Derby`s own original rock `n roll band

The Vibrons were one of the first local bands to form in the early sixties

They enjoyed an enthusiastic following of fans and played in all the local clubs

 pubs and concert halls.

Later on they toured with several big names recording stars

including The Kinks, Joe Brown, The Animals and The Rolling Stones.

They appeared on Ready Steady Go, television`s premier rock and roll programme

performing their single recorded by Mickie Most for Decca records.

Real jobs got in the way of musical careers and eventually the four lads

from the Alvaston area of Derby left the scene to earn a proper living.

Over nearly 35 years, they lost touch with each other and moved away

from the Midlands and began lives as far away as Los Angeles.

In the last couple of years there has been a huge revival in live Rock and Roll

performances, and The Vibrons are one of the many local bands of the sixties era

to re-unite as a result. The fun of renewing old acquaintances and playing their favorite

old numbers again has been a tremendous buzz for all the guys.

Recencently Dave Thompson, the original Drummer retired and so the three other founder

members, Paul Henman, Graham Norman and Mick Asprey ( Jasper ) have been joined by

Tony Bennett, another great musician from the same era.
