Magnificant Breed
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a magnificant guard dog, with natural ability, an alert nature and tough enough to sort out threatening situations if the need arises. The Ridgeback is also known for being a non-violent guardsman, who seldom starts a fight unless it is necessary, who needs little or no guard training, and who can combine guarding qualities with being a wonderful family pet. One single quality that the Ridgeback has is Pride. This is a self-assured dog, which knows its own speed, its own agility and its own competence. The dark eyes of a ridgeback gleam with interest as soon as something new happens. But never treat a Ridgeback badly, they have very long memories. Well treated, he is always your most devoted companion. All he asks for is to be shown the same loyalty, plus a genuine respect for his integrity.
Ridgebacks play rough, tough but fair. A pair of Ridgebacks can play for amazingly long periods of time. Much of the play is wrestling, with the dogs keeping close contact. This natural training for real fights, which Ridgebacks seldom engage in is interrupted by irresistible urges to run.
A note to a Burglar
I think if a Rhodesian Ridgeback was writing a note to a burglar that it might go something like this:
I am the keeper of This House, if you are dumb enough to enter by any means other than the front door or at the invitation of my human, then you probably deserve exactly what you will get. I DO NOT SUFFER FOOLS.
I am a RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK, and as resident GUARDIAN and PROTECTOR of My Humans and all their stuff, I have Supreme and Final Authority. THE BOSS here is ME.
I am IMPULSIVE, ALERT, INTELLIGENT, MODEST, and VERY BRAVE. I am FAST and AGILE, I want to please my Humans, but I am a THINKING DOG, I have ENERGY to BURN, places to go and things to do. I can do Airbourne TWISTS, TURNS, AND TWIRLS that would make you Dizzy.
I am Simply WONDERFUL and FABULOUS, I am HANDSOME, SWEET, STUBBORN, FUNNY, PLAYFUL, WELL BEHAVED, FRIENDLY and HIGHLY INTELLIGENT. Oh, ok I do TRY to be WELL BEHAVED, honest. I am also COURAGEOUS and if I wanted to I could be VERY HEROIC ( but I don't really want too)
