The cost of a puppy including all the extras and a life time of support: all vaccinations (Distemper/Parvo Complex, Bordetella-Kennel Cough), Home Again Brand microchip implanted ID’s with registration through AKC/CAR, worming, flea & tick preventative (Front Line Plus), Heart worm preventative (Interceptor or Heartguard Plus), Official AKC registration, AKC Certified Champion Pedigrees a min. of 10 generations, Puppy Go Home Kit with food samples, booklets on puppy care, CD’s with music for dogs, sound effects to continue sound desensitization, DVD’s your puppies video from birth to go home time, DVD with video clips of the puppy’s family, lots of family pictures, pedigrees, show win records, lots & lots of information on first aid, training, socialization & behavior, and loads more-basically anything & everything you ever need to know about raising a Bullmastiff, DVD on me demonstration best methods to do basic & advanced obedience, toys, bandannas, safe bones and other safe chews, and lots more included free in the puppy kit as well as a recommended size Vari Kennel for your new baby to go home in and will have already been crate trained, also detailed instructions on potty training using a crate-the puppy will be used to eliminating in pine shavings (I teach them to go to the bathroom in pine shavings and they can easily differentiate between pine shavings & carpet/flooring, this method works fantastic for house training!!)
A “Pet” puppy (meaning they are sold with an AKC limited registration which means they only cannot compete in conformation shows however are more than welcome to compete in AKC Rally-O, Obedience, Agility, and the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program and I always recommend having your puppy train & test for certification as a Therapy Dog once they turn a year old! It’s a wonderful program and Bullmastiffs make fantastic Therapy Dogs! The “Pet” puppy doesn’t not mean in any way that they are lacking, in fact I sell far more gorgeous “Show” quality puppies for “Pet” than anything else & want it that way, I don’t want one of my puppies to live the life of a typical show dog-away from home all the time, traveling, living out of a crate (although I firmly belive the use of a crate is the safest way to raise a puppy I never condone keeping a puppy or dog crated any longer than necessary & for puppies no longer than 4 hours max. except at bedtime), I show my dogs (I show them, I don’t send them away with handlers and they are never “on the road” more than a weekend with me at a time).
“Pet” puppies sell for $1650.00 (Less any deposit) I am keeping the price pretty much the same as I have for the past several years even though it’s costing me more but decided to keep it the same because of the economy right now, I know there are people selling puppies for $3000.00 that are of far less quality and genetically inferior to my pups but the most important thing is that they go to loving homes, will be house dogs and members of a family and that their family can afford to care for them properly feeding premium food, regular wellness visits to the vets, proper toys, training, etc.) “Pet” Puppy only means you aren’t going to show the puppy in AKC conformation shows or plan on breeding the puppy however you can still participated in AKC competitive obedience, agility, Rally-O, the Canine Good Citizens program, the Canine Ambassador Program and much more without a full registration!!
“Show” puppies for 09 (with full AKC registration needed for conformation showing) sell for $2550.00 less any deposits.
The “Pick of The Litter Puppy” is $2850.00 unless I plan on keeping him or her, I am a canine behaviorist and can choose the best puppy that will fit perfectly into your family and lifestyle according (best as mother nature is willing) to your choice of male or female and color. Of course you will get almost 24/7 expert support in regards to your new puppy when they go home as well as throughout their life, as you know I am a trainer, behaviorist as well as a emergency & surgical vet tech & my husband is a licensed veterinarian who also specializes in orthopedics & orthopedic surgery and holds an additional masters in parasitology so we can give you expert advice on nutrition, training, behavior, medical/first aid, you name it & we will answer any & all questions that you have, always!
I screen the puppy applications very carefully so the more detailed answers you give the more you can help me get to know you, your family & your life style the better I will be able to choose between the many applications I receive as well as helping you make an informed decision to adopt a puppy that is perfectly suited for your life . Thank you for being a intelligent and responsible dog buyer, so many people rush into purchasing a puppy without doing the research first on the breed and then on the breeder, a well bred puppy from a reputable breeder will be a joy for life, and thank you for not supporting puppy mills by buying a puppy from a pet store, I am a huge advocate against mass breeding facilities & puppy mills, I belive if you have a dog you should live with your dogs my dogs are all house dogs, spoiled rotten and that’s the way it should be

1.) Have you ever owned a Bullmastiff before?
If not, what other dogs have you owned?
(a) Do you have any pets at this time?
If yes, what kind (cats, dogs-breed), how many & what are the ages & sexes of the dogs in the household and have they been spayed or neutered?
2.) Have you ever given up a puppy/dog to a shelter?
If so, explain the circumstances.
3.) Do you plan on having this puppy/dog be a house pet?
4.) Do you have a fenced in yard or kennel?
5.) If you do not have a fenced in yard would you consider having your yard fenced (preferably chain link) or purchase a chain link kennel/run for your new puppy? Or be willing to commit to taking him out on a leash?
*The reason I ask this is because Bullmastiffs are extremely strong and can easily break a chain or a cable when full grown, if they are tied out, invisible fences don’t always work with Bullmastiffs & they’re not worth taking the risk of your dog getting out, also they do not prevent other animals or people from entering your yard. There is some debate about these fences, but knowing the facts they seem like too much of a risk.
6.) Who would be the primary person responsible for care of the puppy?
7.) How often would this primary care person be home during the day?
8.) Would the puppy be left home alone for more 4 hours at a time during the day?
9.) If you do work, do you have someone you trust to care for the puppy in your
absence?
10.) Do you have the necessary finances to properly care for a Bullmastiff puppy?
And are you willing to purchase health insurance for you new puppy?
I ask if you are willing to purchase health insurance for the puppy (which on average is around $300.00 a year-very reasonable!! Because accidents happen and god forbid one of my puppies or dogs ever has to be put to sleep because the bill is to high for you to be able to pay-and vet bills can get high fast, even for simple things like an allergic reaction or ear infection it saves you money, it really is a smart move!
(It is offered at a very reasonable price through AKC) you will get the information when you register you puppy.
11.) If you currently have a veterinarian, or have used one for your pets in the past, could you please list their name/s & phone number/s?
12.) If you have not used a veterinarian within the last three years could you list a Veterinarian in your area that you would most probably use for the health care of your puppy/dog?
13.) Are you willing to invest in professional obedience classes before the pup is six months old (this is also the safest way to socialize your pup & a great bonding experience) and have your puppy certified as a AKC Canine Good Citizen? (This is a stipulation in the temperament guarantee)
**I highly recommend positive reinforcement methods of training ONLY, if you would like a list of APDT (Assoc. of Pet Dog Trainers) in your area please let me know & I would be more than happy to send you a link to a list of trainers within your zip code, APDT trainers use only positive reinforcement methods, anyone can call themselves a trainer & the wrong trainer can do irreparable damage to your puppy!
(The reason is Bullmastiffs grow up to 100+ pounds in a year & are very strong, it is HIGHLY recommended to have to puppy obedience trained & socialized while they are young. This way they are able to avoid bad habits that they would have to be trained out of later. Plus it is so much easier to teach them to walk on a leash without tugging when they are small than when they are a 100 + pounds!)
*Bullmastiffs are lap dogs trapped in a big dog’s body!
14.) Do you have any children, if so, what are their ages?
15.) If you do not currently have children but plan to in the future, would a child change the way you feel about or treat the puppy/dog?
16.) Would you be willing to introduce the puppy/dog to a new baby as you would introduce a sibling?
*Bullmastiffs adore children and are wonderful dogs to have your kids grow up with!
15.) Are you willing to “Crate Train” your new puppy?
*Crate training means putting your new puppy in either a wire or plastic/Vari kennel when you are unable to watch them.
The same way you would put a human baby in a play pen when you are unable to supervise their activities. This is the absolute BEST way to keep your puppy safe! Puppies will naturally chew on things and it is common for them to have chewed through an electrical cord and die from electrocution, or to swallow a foreign body like a sock or a child’s small toy, or chew on plants that are poisonous, there are so many possibly hazardous things in a home, you wouldn’t let a baby free to roam the house without supervision, nor should you let a baby Bullmastiff.
Also you are able to “house break” your new puppy very quickly this way, the puppy will rarely soil the area that he/she sleeps in (unless they have been left alone too long). This way the puppy doesn’t learn bad habits like urinating or defecating in the house, it is truly the best way to house break your new puppy and so much easier to teach them good habits from the beginning than trying to break them of bad habits when they are older!
Some people may think putting the puppy in a crate is cruel, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth…..dogs are naturally denning animals, and love this quiet space of their own, long after the puppy has been house trained you will find they still want to sleep in their crate. I will leave the dogs doors open & they will go in their crate to take a nap or to chew a favorite bone, or just to get away from the chaos of a normal family. The puppies crate should be off limits to children, this is their private space & they need to know they have a place of their own. The pup may fuss a bit at first (they just came from a secure environment that they were used to with all their sisters and brothers around them…this is all new to them, but they will get used to it) just don’t give in, if you let them out when they are fussing (assuming they are just complaining about being separated from you & there is nothing wrong) they will learn if they fuss, you will let them out! Be brave, the results are a happy puppy without bad habits! They will quickly settle down and go to sleep…they aren’t any different than human babies, a person wouldn’t even consider leaving a human baby to roam the house without supervision!
This is the ONLY way you know your puppy is safe when you are unable to watch them! Ok…you’ve probably guessed I am a fan of crate training! I never recommend keeping a puppy crated all the time though! Only when you are unable to watch them, if that is more than 4 hours a day, then it is too much!
16.) Have you done any research on the Bullmastiff breed if you haven’t owned one before?
(b) How did you first hear of this breed?
17.) What is your name & mailing address?
18.) What is your email address/s? (If you have one)
19.) What is/are your contact phone number/s?
20.) Do you want a “pet” puppy or a “show” puppy?___________ (there is rarely a difference in the conformation of my puppies sold for pet as opposed to my puppies sold for show, I actually will not sell puppies for show if they are going to be living out of crates & traveling from show to show, I want my pups to be members of the family! If the owners will travel to shows with the pup/dog, or show them themselves then I don’t have a problem with that as long as they promise they will be house dogs only!)
22.) What sex would you prefer?_________ If you don’t have a preference please check here______
23.) What color puppy would you prefer?________If you don’t have a color preference please check here________
24.) How did you hear of us:_________________________________________________
25.) What is today date?________________________
26.) How long are you willing to wait for one of our very special puppies?________
**I can never guarantee that you will get the sex or color you want, that is entirely up to mother nature, however if you only want a certain sex or color and it wasn’t possible from the current/next litter then your name will move up on the waiting list for the following litter.
I do my very best to make sure everyone gets the perfect puppy for their family & lifestyle, being a behaviorist I am able to match puppies personalities perfectly with your lifestyle and in almost 30 yrs of breeding Bullmastiffs I’ve only had 2 dogs come back to me, one came back because the owner sadly passed away, the second came back because the owner was in the military and had no one else he trusted to care for his dog, so I guess that says a lot for being able to match puppies personalities to their prospective homes.
** I do fly the puppies within a certain distance within the US only (although I don’t like it, but I have never had a problem) this way I am able to choose from a lot more people and don’t have to “settle” on someone just because they are within driving distance. I usually use US Air or Delta/Com Air out of Bangor, Maine. They do fly to most states in several locations (usually the larger airports). Everyone who has ever gotten a puppy that was flown says they adjust very, very quickly, so it isn’t too traumatic for them. I socialize them well enough & try to get them used to all kinds of situations before they leave including playing over 900 different sound effects so they aren’t afraid of loud noised and are confident with new situations and they are able to adjust very quickly to new situations. They still will need reassurance & lots of love, they are in a whole new situation, this is the best time for bonding with your puppy, it is HIGHLY recommended to arrange to take several (or as many as possible) days off (if you work away from home) when your new baby arrives, or plan on a weekend. I will work with you to find the best time for your puppy to arrive.
If there is any way I can help, or answer questions, just let me know! Also if you end up getting a puppy from another breeder & you have been pre-approved or on the stand by list for one of my puppies, just let me know so I can take your name off the list.
I am also available to answer any questions you might have, even if you get the puppy from another breeder. The internet is a wonderful reference tool, but the information you may find isn’t necessarily correct or sometimes just plain wrong, or dangerous.
It is time consuming & confusing trying to sort through all the info. & chances are we have dealt with the same situation at one time or another. So feel free to email me with any questions you might have…there are no stupid questions & you won’t bother me! J
*Please feel free to write any additional information that you think will help me get to know you better and the personality type of the puppy that would best fit into your life style, some puppies are more active than others, some are more laid back and mellow, some are just born to do agility and conformation showing and I love to see my puppies become certified therapy dogs, although it’s not a stipulation of the contract but these puppies and as they grow into adult dogs are able to win over even those who never liked dogs, there is definitely something very special about them, I’ve had people drive 14 hours one way to pick up one of the pups then come back again a yr or so later to get a second and some even a third, I think that speaks for itself.
Thank you for taking the time to fill out this application!!!
I apologize for the length, but I want to do the very best I can in making sure the puppy will be loved and treated like a member of the family for the rest of their lives!
Thank you!
Suzan J. Dexter
