FORMERLY DEXT-ORR BULLMASTIFFS
(I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE NAME AFTER ALL THESE YEARS BECAUSE NOT ONLY WAS I BORED WITH IT, I DIDN'T THINK IT ADEQUATELY DESCRIBED MY BULLY KIDS-I'M ALWAYS SAYING THEY ACT LIKE THEY ARE "SELF APPOINTED" ROYALTY SO I THOUGHT THE NEW NAME REALLY FIT, IT DESCRIBES MY DOGS AS WELL ! PLUS IT MAKES ME SMILES )
NOTE: PLEASE VOLUNTEER YOUR DOG AS A BLOOD DONOR YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE! (inquire at your local animal hospital)!!!

WISHING YOU ALL A BRIGHT AND SHINING SPRING!!!
Hi! My name is Suzan I am a canine behaviorist and postive reinforcement trainer & also specialize in canine reproduction and ethology, a certified AKC CGC evaluator, I also train Therapy Dogs and work with disabled dogs, you can read more information about me and my partner (Jason) is a licensed & federally accredited Veterinarian with an additional masters in Parasitology, & specializing in orthopedics, below.
ALL of our dogs are house dogs, spoiled rotten, just the way it should be! I never saw any sense in having a dog you didn't live with-you can read more about us and our dogs below & on the other pages in the web site-the web site is still a work in progress so check back frequently!
We are now accepting puppy applications for our much anticipated breeding with Aristocrat's Dharma Jewl (of Stoneridge/Tartan) AKC, CGC, TDI & Aristocrat's Tearloch Onyx-Bull AKC, CKC, DNA, CGC, TDI, CAR , BOS this breeding is planned for early summer 09.
We are also accepting applications for our summer (June/December 09) breedings with Aristocrat's Tearloch Onyx-Bull AKC, DNA, CGC, TDI, CAR , BOS & Aristocrat's Izz-A-Bull Ruby's Jewel, AKC, CGC, TDI, CAR (Izzy is sired by BISS Ch. King Kwame of Bayview & out of Aristocrat's Red Ruby Rag-Doll, AKC, CGC, TDI, CAR, BOB) as well as much anticipated & new breeding of Aristocrat's Ch. Luca Brahma-Bull AKC, CKC, CGC, TDI, DNA & Aristocrat's Ruby Red Rag-Doll AKC, CGC, TDI, Winner of multi first placements, multi winners dogs, multi best of winners, multi reserve winners and best of breed won over another bitch that showed in Westminster Feb. 08
Note: Izz-A-Bull's sire, BISS Ch. King Kwame was invited back to Westiminster for the 2nd consecutive year where he will be competed with the top Bullmastiffs in the country, he also is in the Book of the top ten Bullmastiffs in the country in print only every 5 years!
Kwame competed in Westminster 06 & 07 as well (you can watch the video in the navigation bar), he hadn't even had his 2nd birthday yet! He was born 2-21-04, I had been researching lines for about a year when I found his litter and picked him out for his real "Bull" head (which he got from his dam and his size from his sire who is top of standard), he's got that wide head & wrinkle that I love to maintain in my line, as well as a great laid back personality!
Aristocrat's Red Ruby Rag-Doll AKC, CGC, CAR, TDI, BOB
Ruby is my baby, VERY intelligent, and just gorgeous!!! She is top of AKC standard in size & has a better resume than I do She won Best of Breed just 9 months after having a litter of 13 puppies-not bad at all-but I make sure my dogs get lots of exercise and really enjoy walking them-they literally will stop traffic, I've had people stop their cars in the middle of the street to come see the dogs & ask questions about them. Ruby is a great dog & I couldn't imagine life without her! I kept two of her pups from BISS CH. King Kwame of Bayview, they are both turning out beautifully! Izz-A-Bull is the spitting image of her mother.
Ruby has the sweetest personality & just loves everyone, she volunteers at a therapy dog & loves helping people, especially kids in anyway she can, TDI (Therapy Dogs International) has a new program where kids that have problems reading are helped tremendously by reading to a therapy dog instead of in front of their class mates, dogs are so patient & forgiving and would never dream of making fun of a child that had problems pronouncing a word unlike some of their class mates!!! It's a wonderful program & I urge anyone with a friendly dog to get involved in the Therapy dog program-dogs bring not only total unconditional love to us, are always there when you need a friend, but there is scientific evidence that proves dogs are good for you! People who own a dog live an average of 10 years longer than those who don't, and they can help in the healing process better than any medications!!! You couldn't ask for a sweeter, more devoted dog than a Bullmastiff-they truly are the best of the best!!! If you've never owned a Bullmastiff before I tell people the closest way to attempt to describe them in words is that another dog will come to you for attention whereas a Bullmastiff will come to you to give YOU attention!!!!
That is me by the way (Suzan) in the pictures-so you have a face to put to who your talking to by email
Ruby's dad-Aristocrat's Opie the Red (middle is a water color pencil drawing I did of him)
Opie is also top of standard size, 27" and 140 lbs of pure muscle, with a fantastic head set, but his best quality is his personality, he's very mellow & laid back, just a big love bug!
Aristocrat's Fawncie Dancer (mom of Ruby & Annie)
fawncie Dancer is a beautiful girl, very typy, she's built like a tank but has the movement of a hackney pony-she floats, beautiful movement, she's passed this extrodinary movement to her offspring. She too has a beautiful head (although these aren't her best pictures) Fawncie is 25" & 120 lbs of pure muscle, but this girl can move and move fast!! She is the best mother in the entire world, we have litter reunions & even after pups have been gone for several years she always knows their her kids & it's so great to see the whole family playing happily together in the back yard when we have reunions or just have our puppy people stop by & visit! Which our doors are always open.
Aristocrat's Tearloch Onyx-Bull AKC, CKC, DNA, CGC, TDI, CAR
Tearloch is ONLY one year old in these pictures (DOB: 5-7-05)
Tearloch is a unique & beautiful dog,Tearloch is a really big boy, he weighs a 165 lbs & is on the top of the top of standard size, 27.5" tall, he's starting to loose some of his "puppy fat" and gain muscle, anyone who knows Bullmastiffs knows that the male don't start "bulking-up" until they are over a year old and aren't completely grown (meaning in bulk) until 4-5 yrs old, they spend their first year growing in height after that it's all bulk, the next years (up to 5 yrs old) are spent growing those huge blocky heads, wide muscular chests, neck & shoulders-so Tearloch isn't even close to being grown-he's got a long way to go YET he is already GORGEOUS!!! And he has the sweetest temperament, he's just a big teddy bear! He comes from a very famous line of Bullmastiffs-his Aunt is ranked #2 bitch in the entire country! Both his parents & almost ALL of his relatives are at least American Champions with many holding both American & International Championship titles. You can see Tearloch's pedigree in the navigation bar of the home page. Tearloch is a rare black brindle, meaning they have so many black stripes they look almost completely black and boy is he ever handsome-and look at that coat-you can almost see yourself in it it's so shiny!!! Tearloch is very athletic, as are all my dogs, they have a huge back yard to run & play in with lots of agility equipt. and toys, they love to play race track & use the hurdles the most.
Tearloch will start his showing career this month (Oct. 06) and we hope to have his Championship by the end of the year!
NOTE: Tearloch did awsome in his very first show even with Ruby in heat & testosterone coursing through his viens, I figured if he didn't flatten anyone it would be a good day since this boy outweighs me by 65 lbs!! (he thinks he's still just a little guy!) but he took first place, the winners, then best of opposites and even got a point & trophy in his very first show-we are very, very proud of him!!! I ended up showing him myself and I've done very little show handling, he outweighs me by 65 lbs of pure muscle & is taller than I am if he stands up on his hind legs and he's so good I was able to control him & have him act like a perfect gentleman on a shoe string-which is basically all a show lead is
Congrats to my big baby boy in his very first show!!!!
Below is a picture of Tearloch's Sire-Ch. Blazin's Tonka Unbreak-a-Bull you can see a picture of his mother Ch. Lawson's Okie by clicking on his dams pedigree in the navigation bar, she is a huge and beautiful red brindle bitch also with the best personality & temperament!!! I will be updating Tearloch's pictures as he grows so check back! To get an indication of what he will look like full grown there is a picture of his father below.
There will be many more pics of Tearloch's family added shortly-so keep checking back!
Hi, my name is Suzan of Aristocrat Bullmastiffs; I am a trainer, canine behavioral therapist, reproduction specialist, Mem. ADOA, Professional mem. APDT #66535, Reg. AKC/CGC Eval. #8219, TDI Eval.(pend), member CMKC, member PVKC, our dogs are all house dogs, AKC/CGC, CAR, We participate in the AKC voluntary DNA program, I also participate in the continuing Breeders Education Program through AKC as well as attend all the AVMA & AAHAVeterinary Conferences yearly & keep VERY up to date on Canine Reproduction, care of neonates, genetics, and anything & everything I can learn-I've been breeding for 30 years now-I am NOT one of those breeders who reads something on the net & takes it as gospel, I want proof of something & scientific proof before I would change anything I do with my dogs!!!
My husband is a licensed and federally accredited Veterinarian with an additional master's degree in parasitology and specializes in orthopedics. He has is own Veterinary practice here in town, Sebasticook Animal Clinic, Jason L. Orr, BS, MS, D.V.M. so we know what we are doing!
We do all health screening prior to breeding. Our puppies have champion bloodlines, home raised, very well socialized and early obedience, house breaking & behavioral training done before they go home, also crate trained & litter box trained! We are so confident in our pup’s temperaments that we guarantee both temperament and health for life in writing! Typically breeders say health is guaranteed for one year (which so many issues don't show up until at least 2 years or older since these dogs matures so slowly, males aren't totally full grown until 4-5 years and females until 3-4 years old!) Also they are required by law to only offer a one year health guarantee, since many states have a puppy lemon law. Our pups have wonderful confirmations according to AKC standards. My husband is a licensed Veterinarian & I am also an emergency & surgical vet. Tech. so the pups have everything done right from the time of conception to the time they go home! The puppies are hand whelped, and handled continually from the time they are born. They have a temperature controlled nursery, plenty of visual, brain stimulation (which makes them more easily trained, smarter) they have plenty of sunlight/sunlamps (for Vit. D). they have the best food, vitamins. They all are breast fed (for plenty of antibodies against K-9 diseases) & also supplemented with bottle (so litter is very uniform in size). We are breeders who stand behind our pups for life! We will always answer any questions you might have & we try to make ourselves available for our puppy people (the people who already have one or more of our pups) 24/7 for support in regards to health, training, behavior, any questions you may have! There are NO stupid questions!!! The puppies have been around other dogs, cats, handled frequently by children (when I can round them up in the warmer months since my kids are grown but my grandson who is 12 comes to play with them) & other people; they just naturally love kids, very stable & naturally protective, trustworthy dogs, big blocky, stocky dogs! They are used to many noises I play a CD for them with over 900 different sound effects, so these pups won't be afraid of loud noises or run away during a thunderstorm! I
Also start doing my own adaptation of Dr. Batagllia’s exercises to help produce stable puppies (originally intended for raising dogs of war that were uncreative to all the stresses and noises of war). I start these exercises at 2 days old as well as start clipping their nails at 2 days old.
Once your application has been approved and our babies have been born you will be given a password so you can watch live video feed of the babies in the nursery so you don't miss any part of their growth processes, it's such a wonderful thing to watch!!! The pups are raised in an enriched environment with many toys, textures, things to climb on, visual stimuli (yes dogs do see in color!) I do temperament testing on the pups and work with any that might be more reserved than the others so that they will all swarm you with kisses and wagging tails upon your visit!!! My goal, beyond producing puppies that are happy, healthy, smart and more easily trained and that live far longer than the typical Bullmastiff, is to get them ready for the real world so they are not afraid when they leave, in fact all of my puppy people report that after a matter of minutes the pups act like they were born and raised in their new home, and that makes me happy to know they are not afraid and adapt easily to changes, that's what I work very hard to do, it also helps me because I'm a basket case when they leave!!! But knowing they aren't afraid and love their new family, then hearing stories of how much love and joy they bring to their new families makes it all the sleepless nights, all the work and trying to stay awake in a nursery with the temp set at 90 degrees (not easy!) and seeing pictures of them (mostly with families with kids) makes me very happy and I do my very best to hold back the tears until after you leave with them!
We are now accepting applications for our summer litters so please email for a puppy application, and links to pictures & a link to our You Tube Channel where there are many videos of our dogs so you can see firsthand how spoiled and well cared for they are! As well as any and all other information-if you must call please leave your name & mailing address so I can mail the materials to you since I am rarely available to answer the phone because I take care of my dogs myself, do all the daily grooming, I do all their training and train them so they are all AKC Canine Good Citizen Certified as well as TDI Certified Therapy dogs, I also take the dogs to schools, libraries as part of the reading program of Therapy Dogs Int. as well as to schools to teach children how to behave around dogs, teach them dog body language and how to best care for their own dogs at home, I always bring one or two of my dogs with me when we go to the schools and the dogs are immediately swarmed by kids and love every second of it! We also visit the hospital, mostly the children’s ward and visit as many of the elderly patients as possible or anyone who looks like they need a smile and maybe a sloppy kiss, we also go to visit the local nursing homes and it is very rewarding to see the dogs you love bring a smile to the face of someone who seconds before looked lost and hopeless! I also use my dogs as dog/dog therapy dogs in my canine behavioral practice as well as getting out when I can to dog shows so I'm not around the phone much I'm sorry to say, and I just want to make sure that everyone who has called or emailed an not got a reply that I'm sorry, really sorry but I am only one person and it's not because I don't care it's simply because there are only so many hours in a day and my dogs always come first as do the people who already have one or more of my dogs, then I do the best I possibly can to return your phone calls and emails, if you don't hear from me, try-try again!!! However if your puppy application is approved I like to talk to each person on the phone (or in person) as part of the application process, I am extremely picky about who I choose for my babies! Anyone is always welcome to come and visit (assuming I don't have brand new puppies at the time-I won't even let family members visit until they are 4 weeks old to keep them safe from canine disease that can be spread simply by someone touching another dog or walking on the sidewalk where another dog has been! I am very protective of my babies! But other than that anyone is welcome to come and meet my bully-gang :) but as I said before this is NOT a business and we do not have a kennel, this is our home and our dogs are part of our family, so please call to set up a time if you'd like to visit :)

"Just A Dog"
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog."
They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog."
Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted.
Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
Because of "just a dog", I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog", but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man or woman."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog" just smile... because they "just don't understand."
by Richard Biby
Every dog must have a soul Somewhere deep inside Where all his hurts and grievances Are buried with his pride. Where he decides the good and bad, The wrong way from the right, And where his judgement carefully Is hidden from our sight. A dog must have a secret place Where every thought abides, A sort of close acquaintance that He trusts in and confides. And when accused unjustly for Himself, He cannot speak, Rebuked, He finds within his soul The comfort he must seek. He'll love, tho'he is unloved, And he'll serve tho'badly used, And one kind word will wipe away The times when he's abused. Altho' his heart may break in two His love will still be whole, Because God gave to every dog An understanding Soul!

Maine
Dext-Orr Bullmastiffs is located in the beautiful state of Maine
We have a huge back yard that is all fenced in with lots of agility equiptment & loads of toys for the dogs to play, run, have lots of fun & get lots of exercise at the same time! They have outside kennels that are 1/2 covered by a roof & the other half open if they want to lay in the sun, the kennels are filled with pine shavings which the dogs are trained to go to the bathroom in & not on the grass, the kennels were initially installed for exercise as well but they only use them as "rest rooms"
We are also in the process of building a dog park for all the local dogs since there is no place that dogs can run free safely and a lot of people don't have the space or fencing we do to make it safe for the dogs, so I am trying to raise enough funds by selling my VetzPets products (unique & extra tough stuff for extra big dogs) to fence in a large lot of property we have for the purpose of a free dog park.
We live about 3 hours north of Boston, MA and it's not unusual to see deer or a moose in the middle of maine st.

Dog’s best friend

Connecticut Post Online (Bridgeport, Connecticut)

Dog’s best friend
Dennis McBride had a childhood dream that seemed out of reach for a boy growing up in the housing projects of Brooklyn, N.Y.
His vision, after seeing television broadcasts of the Westminster Dog Show, was to own a champion canine and enter it in the prestigious competition. That may have seemed nearly impossible at the time, since owning a pet was not even allowed in the projects.
But over the years a lot has changed for McBride, who is now a physician and director of the Milford Health Department. In February, McBride entered King Kwame of Bayview, his 2-year-old bull mastiff, in the 129-year-old dog show held annually at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
“I was just happy being there,” McBride said. “I had always thought that if I ever had a dog I wanted to take him to Westminster.”
The Westminster Dog Show, run by the Westminster Kennel Club, showcases dogs from each of 165 sanctioned breeds. The bull mastiff became a recognized breed after years of combining the Old English bulldog popular in the late 19th century with a mastiff. “Most purebred have some sort of mixes a long way back,” said David Frei, the Westminster Kennel Club’s director of communication. “Bull mastiffs came from the bulldog and the mastiff, and from selecting certain traits that they wanted. They wanted the dog to have a certain tenacity, and the similar size and strength to the mastiff.”
While the bull mastiff was originally bred to be a “game-keeper’s night dog” to protect estates from poachers and other threats, it has also gained the reputation as a serious but non-aggressive, loving dog, according to Frei. During the Feb. 13-14 showings, 24 bull mastiffs competed to become best of breed, making it one of the most competitive categories at this year’s event. Kwame is ranked sixth in the country for bull mastiffs.
“That’s a large entry,” Frei said, “especially since our show is limited. Only 2,500 are allowed to show. That’s a large category, and very competitive.”
Most people bring their dogs to the Westminster showing, according to Frei, because “all the best dogs are there … and they know that all the dog show people in the country are watching this dog show.” But McBride said he entered Kwame merely for enjoyment.
“I just wanted to enter him into the show for the fun of it,” McBride said. “It looks pretty easy, but it isn’t. There is a discipline to it and it helps to have a professional dog handler who can show a particular breed the way they need to be shown.”
Valerie McBride, the health director’s wife, said they first became involved with showing dogs when they bought Zuna, a 3-year-old female bull mastiff.
“The breeder, Dext-Orr Bullmastiffs asked if we were going to show her and that put it into his head,” she said. “He always loved animals. I took some handling classes and we decided to try it out.”
When they approached Shirley Boxer, a professional handler from New Jersey, about showing the dog, she said that she would rather show Kwame than Zuna, who didn’t enjoying going to dog shows. But Kwame loves the experience, McBride said.
“When he gets into the ring, he starts strutting around and showing off for the other dogs,” he said. “When we take him outside for a walk, he can’t wait to get back into the ring. He just loves it.”
Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr. said Kwame is a favorite among the employees at City Hall when McBride brings the dog for a visit.
“He’s a huge dog,” Richetelli said. “You can tell that he truly loves his dog. To have a pet that makes it all the way to the big show is quite an accomplishment.”
McBride said he will likely enter Kwame into the Westminster Dog Show again next year, although it may be his last. The handler usually takes Kwame for several months prior to show him at other events throughout the region to gain the points needed for Westminster.
“It may sound sappy, but I hate to give him up,” McBride said. “But if he doesn’t have to spend too much time away from home, then maybe we’ll continue.”
Anyone interested in seeing Kwame in action can view video coverage of the bull mastiff prejudging on the Westminster Kennel Club’s Web site, www.westminsterkennelclub.org.

A dog can show you more honest affection with the flick of his tail or tongue than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes."
